Funny As ITs not you.

Ever wench a Harley onto a trailer behind a Volvo - I have ;o)

It was not my Harley.

Sacrilegious but I did ride a 76 Skirster 850 for one summer, aside from keeping the tappets adjusted, Fantastic well balanced torque ride under 100 mph.

Highly recommend her for City Walk Abouts.

Real PUSHER after midnight on the Streets of Toronto back then: but, my 70 750 SF0 Breganzie could blow her off the streets - If you had the Guts ;o)

I loaded a Shovel Head Dresser onto my trailer when it blew a clutch, my heavy-duty ramp has a lip that sits onto the grove where its tailgate pivots, The weight of Harleys is stupifying. Must be close to 500kg, I thought the tailgate was in danger of snapping off.

Here in the USA we have lots of morons who put lift kits on their already big pickup truck. When it becomes time to load a motorcycles, it becomes impossible without the assistance of a lot more people. I have seen too many who try to load their bike themselves without assistance and it goes crashing to the ground as the bed of the truck is too tall for them to step in to. Then there are the one who try to ride the bike up the ramp as in the video, they also fuck up the bike.

I have a big pickup truck now and even with no lift kit it is still a pain to load any bike by myself. I used to have a small pickup truck, should have never sold it as by myself I could load a 600lb BMW without any problems.

Gotta Reese 3 hitch on the Front and Back with a Wench - It will NEVER carry a Harley - Will with a Trailer ;o)

I once watched a Ducati Darmah somersault down the road when one tie-down failed. It was next to my Norton on a trailer.
It was about 18 months later and a lot of $$ spent before it was repaired. It was being "looked after" by a flatmate while the owner was in Oz.
Luckily he didn't come back early.
Always been very careful about tying bikes down after that. Much prefer a van, as even if it falls over it's still contained.

You live and learn or at least you should, after my one and only insanely stupid back of a ute loose of a load at speed I now carry and use max number of fixings. This kills people.

If your loading onto a ute/pickup truck and your ramps are not arched you are almost certain to fail, it's simple geometry compounded by the laws of physics but mostly it's stupidity. HTH
The arch/curve makes a huge difference.

With three ramps, it's almost like driving up on a motorway, anyone can do that!

This kind of motorcycle loading fascinates me much more:

:D

My H type Citroen van, 11inch load height, simple two piece folding/hinged ramp, ramp tucks in alongside the bike.
When kitted up for longer distance/time trips, bed goes along side single bike, stuff stored under bed.
She is slow but we've always made are intended destination.
Loading my Laverda should be no issue as my airhead BMW and my Harley have not given issue so far.
I've asked for help loading two bikes in the past as its best to fit them nose to tail

Congrats Charley, what a beauty!

At my age I’m way past loading bikes into pickup trucks. The trucks here in the US are just too high. I’ve thought of building a landscaped loading ramp to back up to but my wife said absolutely not. I think the best option is a low utility trailer with a fold down rear ramp.

I bought an old persons trailer. Will see me out.

It is only an option for US owners, but I have used the Uhaul motorcycle trailer exclusively for at least a decade. Wide ramp, low bed height, solid rails and tie down rings and a low daily rate. Best of all you don’t have to store, maintain, insure or license it!

The downside is that it is not available for one-way rental, if that is necessary use a 5’x9’ trailer.

A friend of mine has a Baxley trailer, the only one I have ever seen. They cost as much as the bike. Which is my friend's argument for buying one. "Why are you going to put your $X0,000 bike on a $X00 trailer??"
