Gear change set up

It's staggering how many owners have had serious trouble getting this fairly basic setup right.

Just keen to find out how the gear change feels on other 3CL's

The previous owner I would say...

The bike has done less than 3000 kms in the last 9 years according to all the docs / receipts that came with it - with the last few years i think it was only ridden from the garage to the testing station

Good idea, we can do a short workshop there live on site.

- right Exhaust off
- tilt a beer crate under the left footrest and the bike to the left (before you have to empty the bottles)
- open the lid
- adjust
- ready + drink a beer (or a glas of wine)

Thanks, i will try the cover without a gasket as you mentioned - reminds me i have to get a gasket in any case as the original fell apart on cover removal

Tried without the gasket and there is a gap of around 0,50 to 0,55 mm at the widest point

With a new gasket (1mm compressed?) that should provide enough clearance.

No, no, my friend Gerd. You are sitting in the same boat. If we do the job, we all together will adjust the gearbox!
I don´t wont be the only one with black and oily fingers at this evening.

p.s. Without gasket is not realy a good idea.

The no-gasket was just to confirm there would be no binding of the selector lever shaft once the cover was fitted.

Couldn't wait for a replacement gasket to arrive so made my own from 1mm thick gasket sheet . Slight adjustment of the eccentric pin 1/8 turn clockwise and bolted everything back up. Just ran the bike up the road neutral to first, first to second & back down to neutral again. Next step to wait for the parts to fix the wobbly exhaust and then apply for the registration.

Good work - but you'll need to confirm shifting in every gear, as they can require some fine tuning to do the full run cleanly. You can check through the gears with the cover off by jiggling the rear wheel back and forth while shifting through.

yep did that, everything sweet at the moment

yep did that all the gears up and down, not been tried out on the road yet as i need to get the bike registered
