Grasstrack sidecar

there were at least two Laverda grass track sidecars because Gerry Adamsand Chris Atkinson were both riding at the same time and out of the same stable, not even one mile from my home, I strongly supect that there was another, but memory is vague.
CLEM
I was working for a company in Brixton and the workshop manager built a wasp outfit? Or was it puma and fitted a 3 cylinder Laverda motor in it and it was so fast but heavy in the corners, I was young and foolish enough to be he’s ballast boy for a few races so went back to my 500 84s JAP , his name was Lenny Diggins or bignose to his friends

Just surfaced pic of Dave & Brian Taylor , I believe this is the first grassbike to use a Laverda triple ( Cougar chassis)as it predates Phil Todd, Lenny Diggins outfit. Only raced a couple of times apparently, I imagine mid 70’s judging by the fact it’s racing against a pre unit Triumph.
Did you know Lenny diggings? Would love to say hi to him, think he moved to Ireland

I remember that K H another uncontrollable monster, did your dad race
Dad didn’t, I did but I raced sidecars in the late eighties then solos after that. I built Number 6 with a Z900 when I was eighteen, Len would have been just about finishing by then. I’m trying to work out just how many Laverda outfits there were - I think at least four. I never actually saw a Laverda race on the grass which is a shame.

Lovely outfit,me Lenny and a couple of workmates all were Maidstone aces club members and Jonny Marshall our lovely boss and owner of ace motorcycles sponsored us amongst many other's

I was a member of Maidstone, I think Lenny sold the Laverda to Rob Wilson and then it went to Neville Penfold.

Late 70s early 80s ,350 and 500 jap,Brian cree‘s old bike ,yamaha yr3 then the ace yz 250s 500 weslake then had a couple of tumble’s collar bones and knees ,used to kick around with Len,Kevin Joyce binsy ,a fella called ginger kev worked and owned American auto parts in Thornton Heath,he was a good racer and his last name was Wilson I think ,great days paying for it now Though,it was Kevin Thompson not wilson

Paul & Phillip Tebbs Laverda outfit- another on I knew nothing about, used for beach racing!

I have only joined up because I stumbled across this post by accident, Paul Tebbs was my great uncle and his brother Phil was killed on the River Leven behind their house in Yarm. He drowned trying to rescue a couple of kids who had got themselves into trouble in the river just near the bridge. His son Roland raced in grasstrack for a while but broke his neck going under the wire at Derby (survived it) and I still see him often. If anyone has or knows of any other pictures of their outfit I would be grateful if you could point me at them.

Hi there, have You tried ”memories of grasstrack” Facebook page, that’s your best bet. Roland Tebbs was a bit of a star in the day and loads of people will know him- bit before my time I’m afraid, I raced in the late eighties/ early nineties. I’m always on the lookout for Laverda/ grasstrack sidecars info - if I hear anything I’ll let you know.
I used to own a Hurley 22 yacht that was called “ Compass Rose” out of Yarm- there you go!
