GSXR wheels for a 1200 with a Corsa swinging arm

Only GSXR parts on mine are wheels and discs.
Brembo front and rear on special adapters.

I have ridden Motodd and Harris framed triples but prefer the ergonomics of my heavily modified gold bike.
Each to their own.

On my bikes, I use GSX-R wheels, Discs are - I think - from a Kawasaki (as they have the right measurements to go without adapters; not sure which model though, long time since I converted...), 4-Pot Calipers with according adapters. Rear is GSX-R slave and hanger; you need to modify them a bit as they are made for the right side, but it is really minimal adoptions. Oh - and some spacers... I use the original master on the rear of the 1000 SFC, have a different setup (combined side-stand and master bracket) on the Jota. Front master is a modern PS16 oro from a Zane Laverda (just like the 4-pot brembos, so "kind of Laverda brakes"...  ::) )

All suits very well and makes the rear even block if you push the lever a bit to much. German T?V likes it...  :D

I carried out a small change in un-sprung weight and noticed quite a big difference, on TOG I changed the standard iron discs for Brembo floating 320mm items (stainless) with the correct offset (no adapters)* witch also allowed the standard speedo drive to remain, plus four piston callipers with Reds adapters (which I think were prototypes as the bolts are recessed cap screws, not countersunk ones, (a look that I prefer). this change altered the un-sprung weight by not a huge amount, but it was significantly felt, it just seemed nicer to ride.

ps I started by using a master cylinder from a Kwak750 four (ZXR?) but have now changed to one from a Ducati 916, someone will know exactly what this is dimension wise, but remember the ergonomics of the mechanical lever changes things as well.

* ex Cagiva 500 race bike, never seen a set since, except a brand new pair that I bought and shelved, having reconditioned the old ones with oversize bobbins obtained through Craig in France, many thanks Craig

All you need to do now is turn the calipers the right way round...  :-*

could well be, I do not have any laying here, but if you go for a complete rear-brake, it should give you all parts needed. You will need a bracket though to use the rear master or re-use the original one from your bike. they are close anyway (13mm Laverda, 1/2" = 12,xmm for the GSX-R ones).

.. but if you go for a complete rear-brake ..

Thanks Lothar but it's not the plan.

Looking for a (Brembo P32 or P34) rear brake caliper hanger for a 220mm disk and 20mm rear wheel axle (ODs) setup.
I was thinking doing one myself of course but why reinvent the wheel if it already exists ?

So you want to put a 4 pot caliper on the rear?
I use the 2 pot Brembo only, enough for my needs.
I haven't ever seen a 4 pot on the rear and certainly no caliper adaptor for the rear for a 4 pot.

Seems that rear GSXR rear disks are OD 220mm until 1988, then 240mm from 1989.
Rear wheel spindles are all OD 20mm.

According this post..

Can someone confirm ?

GSXR400/600/750/1000 up to 2005 have 220mm discs with the same bolt pattern as the 18 inchers, difference is thickness.  Later discs are thinner with matching caliper.  GSXR1100 had 240mm discs, as did much of the rest of the Suzuki range.  Again, later discs were slightly thinned down, same bolt pattern.  Somewhere around the K7 GSXR models was the disc mount changed, as well as the caliper bracket.  This turned from fully-floating to fixed.  Later still, calipers switched from fixed opposed-piston type to floating, single-piston.

Have a look at the Zane rear caliper hanger and disc. You doo need a custom isc carrier machined up but not a big deal, have done it to my Jota and also a race bike I?m working on. Lovely little setup 👍

Thanks.
I think Zane rear disk OD is 245mm while I am using a 220mm disk.
I already made a custom disk carrier for it.
I am in need of a caliper hanger for a Brembo P32 (or P34, 84mm axial).

And thanks Piet for your comments and precisions.
Suppose that OD 20mm for rear wheel axles is correct then ?

friend of mine used a setup of a scooter for his race-bike. maybe that helps?  ::)

Not of much use if you intend actually USING the brake.  Brakes made for 60kmh, 75kg machines are a bit overwhelmed when asked to slow down 200kg from 200kmh. ::)

The 220mm gixxer brakes are actually quite OK for a 3C or similar.  The caliper and hangers are quite sturdy and work well with stock Laverda M/Cs.  The 240mm jobbie in my RGS is OK for normal road use but is often at its' limits in alpine touring mode.

Don't see a Zane hanger/caliper for a 245mm disc mating to a Alpino 260mm disc... need at least a very big hammer to achieve that! :D
