Help IDing old tank

Hello All.
Pictures in Gallery: Eurocycleguy-Old Tank. Not sure what I need to do other than upload to gallery. Not techno here. :-[
Tank came on a Bitsa 750.
What age/year(s) is this tank from? (Oldish with screw on cap)
I would like to know if this tank is original or has been modified?
FYI: This tank doesn't fit on my #15517 GT.
See side by side image of Unknown orange tank and GT red tank. Notice the back seam is curved on GT, straight on Unknown.
On underside image there is a outlet pipe near the left side of image. (would be right side of bike when mounted)
On Unknown are these curved mounts at the back really original? Maybe this tank was modified for another marque???

What was the spigot on the underside for?

The Bitsa bike this tank came was on frame #2698;which was stamped as an SF. Title says 1969. I know the original owner he was a partner in a MC shop that sold American Eagle and Laverda. The Title is still in his name.
I plan on building this frame up as original as I can afford. Well at least try.

The spigot on the underside is tank venting/overflow. Goes into a tube that should exit behind the engine.
Take the tank cap off. You'll see a tube just to the rear of the tank opening. If you use that tank, make sure that the tube isn't obstructed by paint or resin. The tank cap in itself hasn't got a provision for venting the tank, most of the time.

Pity that you're on the wrong side of the Atlantic, I have quite a few large parts for those early GTs. No saddle in case you intended asking.

As I said this tank came on a Bitsa, basically a rolling frame- #2698 marked as SF
I got this tank, side covers, Trunk hump seat, gen1 and gen2 wheels, non stock mufflers, non stock bars, SF engine #4964. Just no electricals, gauges or controls.
Since I have my GT together I thought I would build this as the SF it started out as.
I need images of how this era SF should look. I have been copying images from forum and online. But most of what I see are 1972 and newer.
I will probably sell this tank.

Hi Larry,
70 SF has camel hump tank with flip up filler cap centrally located.
1st generation Laverda brakes. 30mm VHB carbs, air filter.
Slash cut silencers with front of engine linking tube.
Smiths instruments.
Large shell type Bosch headlight, same as all 750s until 73 model known as SF1.
That is a guideline, the S flowed into the first SF. There are for instance S with Laverda brakes but we're talking about a few machines only.

Definitely, unless ordered with air filter for certain markets. Believe US was one of them.

... and very important to identify the S: it has a special frame number: LAV.750S*XXXX*

I rechecked the frame number it has the almighty S
750.S*2698*
This bitsa came with an assortment of pieces, the ONLY "S" part being the frame.  >:(

Soooooo, I have many SF pieces, I like the looks of the SFs better than the Ss, All Hallow's Eve is approaching,... So I will build my Frankenstein bike.

I have already had work done on this frame:
Engine mount holes were egg-shaped. (Welded and centered to engine mounts.)
Battery box repairs
Frame tube replace
Other holes repaired
Painted (Overly shiny, repainted it twice still wrong! yuck  (puke))

Hello Marnix,
Do you know if that US air filter was the flatish one or the more rectangular one? A rectangular filter type airbox is currently on ebay.
My GT #15517 has the flat filter.

My S. I've had it since the early 90s. Restored it after a couple of years use, and never used it. Then divorce, house moves. New restoration after a 25 year lay up and quite a few teething troubles but now, I love it. I need to sort an absurdly heavy clutch pull.

The near unobtainable parts are the brakes and the tank. The rest isn't a problem. Same engine, from memory, as the pre 73 SF.

The S cam is not far off specs for a 5/C. Just back enough that it will run without needing the 2/1 I'd reckon. Always wanted to try a 4S in my road SF motor.
