Hi Henry
when I say "inboard" I am just demonstrating my total ignorance about boats. The 350 V8 looks like a car engine but with weird manifolds, and is commpletely inside the boat. Sticking out the back of the boat is what I have recently learned is called a stern drive, which is contolled by a power tilt mechanism. I have used an air compressor driven suction device to throughly drain all fluids including the engine oil, pulled and threw away the spark plugs, Sprayed some oil in each cylinder, turned the engine over on the starter, and installed fresh plugs and fresh oil. The cooling passages and stern drive compartments are all thoroughly drained, just shopping for correct gear oil to use in the stern drive, as you suggested off line likely a synthetic 90 weight gear oil.
on a Laverda theme, the Garelli 150 I was building for the local Moto Giro got significantly damaged by my November 2020 garage fire. I have been hunting for another rebuild project for the Moto Giro and have been unsuccesful so far, so am now thinking of doing a non stock semi cafe racer type build with the Laverda 150 motor from the Garelli rather than worrying about originality for the now fire damaged Garelli. Problem is some of the engine parts got quite roasted, so will have to chase down Wolfgang and see what he can help me out with if I don't find something else first. Heavens forbid, but I have mostly stopped looking at weird old Italian small displacement bikes and am now even considering pre 1969 Japanese bikes under 250 cc displacement. Who knew the prices on a lot of those old Japanese throw away bikes are going through the roof, bloody hell.....
