Hi Dave! Nice to see a bunch of Laverda so far away from where I like in the UK. I notice quite a lot of upgrades on yours. How Remiss. Welcome Domenico from a Darwin Oz, rider. Your Mirage is excellent. 1200's rock!

Hello Domenico and welcome! Personally, I don't like the 1200 fairing and engine guards, but taste is in the eye of the beholder, right?Hello Lawrence! Nice to learn that just like me, you too like the 1982 TS Mirage in it's original form, as it was made by the factory. Not only I like it, but the fairing really protects me. Simple. For what regards the rubber/plastic edging along the windscreen it is an aftermarket product that was available in Italy many years ago. Basically, it was used by car owners who fitted them at the edge of the doors to avoid banging against other cars when parked close to each other. I have now replaced it with a more posh/elegant trim being much thinner and in shiny silver metallic colour. I found it at Kempton Park Auto Jumble in south London (UK) from someone who was selling it by meter length from a big roll. You can see it on the attached picture. Regards.
Hi Lawrence, you nearly guessed it about the fact that I don't like the southern Italian heat in the Summer and I much more prefer the English weather (Just in Summer though...). The list of reasons of why an Italian moves to UK is very long, but in a few words I can say about my case: family, work, taxation, efficiency of public administration, I like the green UK countryside, and much more. To go on holiday in Italy is one thing, surely nice, but to actually live there is a totally different matter...Hello Domenico and welcome! Personally, I don't like the 1200 fairing and engine guards, but taste is in the eye of the beholder, right?
Great you have the bike for 40 years from new. I just wonder what makes an Italian move to Great Britain, please? Can't be the weather (except if you are having problems with the heat in the summer)...
All the best
Lothar (who owns his 3rd hand Jota since 31 years at least...)
Hi Clem, yes you are right, the plexiglass screen is an aftermarket one, because the original that was light blue got broken, while this one is light grey. I bought it in the UK from the following company: https://www.skidmarx.co.uk but they do not seem to make them anymore for the Mirage. Just in case someone is interested, I would enquire with them directly because they seem to be quite flexible with customers.I do beleive that the trim on the fairing edge is on an aftermarket screen and probably a clear one as well, or very light brown smoke.
CLEM
got one just like it in stock but didnt want to use it recently, unless a light blue stock one could not be found, but I did find one, many thank Pompeyguy
Hi Paul, pleased to e-meet you! I often see your picture around the Laverda world... probably ILOC website? Great to hear of another friend around the world with a TS 1200 Mirage. Cheers mate!Hi Domenico, and welcome!
I also have a 1982 TS 1200 Mirage Series 2, in all stock bodywork. I like the fairing, not sure about the lowers on the engine but have left them in place. I even like the stock A11 cams, more even power than the 4C's in my 79 1200.
A lot of Europe remembers German administration well.very understandable. Not sure about the efficiency of public administration, but coming from italy, the perspective might be much different to a german one looking into UK...(sorry guys, I could not resist...)
Benvenuto Domenico.

WOWWW! That's a really nice transformation, but I wouldn't call it upgrade. Very "sexy" indeed.Hi Domenico
Picture of my 80 TS, brought in 1985. After a year decided it needed upgrades and now looks like this
Yes good to see a few around. Mine didn’t have a fairing when I got it but then again I am not a huge fan of fairings. I have an ‘86 vfr with one which I usually use for trips when weather isn’t great and also a lemans 1 with its’ mini fairing but tbh I much prefer riding without one (apart from poor weatherNice and clean! I see you still have the original seat cover, while I had mine re-done here in Sheffield last year. Well, with yours I now know of 4 metallic grey TS Mirage here in the UK (including mine). Out of the four, mine is the only one "original", still as it came out of the factory, except for the seat cover and the plexiglass on the fairing that was replaced after a bird decided to kill himself against my motorbike while I was riding in Italy 15 years ago... Nice talking to you.![]()

I know we should not have thrown those stones but we were only following orders.that from a person, that was born in the "empire", which slaved and robbed 25% of the world, and that moved to France, a country that constantly was in war with the rest of Europe, stomping across uncountable countries to fail against russia? Oh well... we have a saying here: you shouldn't throw stones while sitting in a glasshouse with very thin panes...
