Good choice, a Jota The trouble is, they are old bikes now, so whatever it looks like, you just dont know what the engine condition is. You really dont want to spend 17k on a bike and find it needs a 5k rebuild..I just spent 8k on wk to mine, owned since 2000, albeit that included Mikuni carbs, new conrods, pistons, crank rebuild and some other upgrading stuff..tubeless tyre conversion, modern fuse box, reworked forks etc. It is a fabulous thing nowI would call Keith Nairn of Laverda Scozia for a chat..you never know, he might know of something suitable and can price work on a bike that needs it. Hope you find something suitable, good luck with the search.I am in Kent btw.

As original as possible, fully up and running and in orange. Close to Herts would be a bonus !

Finding a completely original 40+-year-old Jota is going to be tough. Most owners have done sensible mods/upgrades which can make for a better motorcycle. Alternatively, you could look for a clean 1200 and not pay the bigger Jota price, neither of my bikes is original.

Thanks for your constructive advice chaps, I will follow up with caution.

Comments regarding sensible upgrades to modernise the bike makes perfect sense, happy with that. Was being lazy hoping there was a known bike on here that was known as a 'real' one up for sale.

I think you are right but I am guessing that in 1980 there were series 1 in O&S
