Jota for sale in the UK

I think one of the reasons is they sell bikes for customers who expect to achieve a certain amount, and then the shop needs to make money on the deal too.

Certainly, the shops are selling for customers usually. Very often, they don't have the machine on the premises and have never seen it.
If a bike has been on sale for a year, it's either too expensive or flawed.
Make an offer.
I did on a nice looking Guzzi GTS at a British dealer. Knocked £2000 of it but it was still too expensive for me. That was more than 18 months ago now.
It's still for sale.

It had been on sale for a long time - owners need to be practical - you can’t take it with you - there is another doing the rounds on fb which although very nice is overpriced so unless you stumble on someone who just treats 20 k as pocket money it’s going nowhere - it also doesn’t encourage people who just want to ride and younger people who would like to join the clan

2k and you still didn’t buy it Paul - shame on you - what %was that if the retail 🤣

Right footpeg and alternator cover are marked has it been dropped?
Cap head bolts holding discs to front wheels.
Crankcases looked like they have been 'bleached' to try and re-stain the alloy.
Doesn't appear to be a sidestand.
Right hand side photo showing side cover , shows also the rear shock mounting point. Just above mounting there is a cap head is this standard also the paint appears to flaking around weld!
The tyres - do they still make Metzeler me33/99?

I'm afraid I would conclude ' Buyer Beware'

Left it for you.

Yes it’s unfortunately collectors are just hoarding these bikes to make money instead of riding them. For me I just wanted to own one to ride it as much as I can. There was a chap on eBay last year selling one for over 30k US on eBay. I asked him a few questions which he seemed to ignore. He stated he was a collector and knows his stuff. Noticed he never sold it for anything like that, sold for $18,400. I think he was lucky to get that. https://raresportbikesforsale.com/tag/jota/

It’s a banger Paul - worth no more than an O &S Jota - not for me - Joan was a steal 🤣

Topendz, if you're serious about really wanting to ride one of these beauties, you might get yourself into the 'Jota' market by buying a 3CL or a 1200 and having a few simple mods done to it. Any Laverda triple with HC pistons, cams and an open Jota system will give you just the same thrill as a rider. Unfortunately for you, Jotas have accrued a legend status, a la the 750 SFC, which in turn creates very high prices.

The eq for twin lovers like me would be buying an SF and doing some mods as against paying upwards of US$50,000 for an SFC. You end up with spirited performance (not a replica) and gain an enormous reduction in price just for foregoing a name, if all you want is a fantastic bike to ride.

The difference being of course that an SFC got special treatment where the Jota simple got a handful of different parts and is no different from anay other production triple. (The sacrilege!)

Thank you sir... point taken it’s a little more than just a beautiful vintage bike to ride though. The Jota is the first bike I fell in love with and swore I’d own one day and I do love the look of it more than any other Laverda. I would also consider the 3C too I think that’s a gorgeous bike. The one with wire wheels and no tail. My point was if I ever got one I’d want to ride it and enjoy it. I wouldn’t turn my nose up to a 3C for sure. Ive owned nothing but Ducati’s for the last 22 years the only bike id rather own is a Laverda.

3CL, orange bodywork, silver frame, HC pistons, 4C cams, Jota pipes and rearsets and you won't be able to tell them apart

Yes, 750SFCs are indeed very special (ie different) c/w an SF, but it's very easy to build a sportier version of an SF that will offer very similar performance to an SFC - and in a lot more comfort!

That's exactly what my bike is. It left the factory in 1976 as a green 3CL. It's now an orange Jota with all the factory Jota parts including Jota badges for the side covers. The previous owner who did the upgrade even had the Australian compliance plate re-issued by Stanco to identify it as a Jota. So even though it's a modified 3CL, it's a Jota in every way that matters.

Yes. There's 500 catalogue differences between an Electronica and a period SF. A very special hand built machine.
And the SFCs have international racing history. The Jota doesn't. It's just a kitted production bike with a sales campaign attached.

yes we would all prefer a SFC to a Jota Paul
Case closed then.
Cold case.

Paul
(however, you can build a twin at least as good as an SFC with a crank from scratch for instance. Just know the right people and have the right bank account)
