Just for Piet: Here's the 81 FXWG Harley version - 1300cc's does NOT do much above 5500 rpm:
That ride is not more 40 feet from me today.
My friends ride - TOO many nuts and Bolts for me and demands constant maintenance: However, one Hell of a Sweet Touring Ride.
Even though I was always a Euro Bike rider for Sport Riding, I gotta admit it's Hard to beat the SMOOTH torque of a Harley V Twin for Touring ;o)
----------------
PS: That Harley you can tear down and work on. Something impossible you CAN DO with modern Harley's.
Piet; He just might be interested in selling - If your interest - PM me - I may be able swing a deal - It will not be cheap !
I road with him for over 10 years. A 81 Harley FXWG Vs a 70 Breganzie SF0 = Great times.
I always liked taunting Harley's on the Trans Canada - Why, Because my Breganzie 70 750 SFO was faster on the top end - Around 125+ Mph @ 7800 rpm in 5th down any straight. Out accelerating Harley in the Mid Range was about impossible.
I'm not discussing an 140+ mph 82 1100 Suzuki GSXR for less price then both them rides - In which case you had better have your Estate settled. The fastest I went on 2 wheels was on a brand new 82 Gexxer - Thankfully, I was smart enough and sold it after one season ;o)
Lost my interest in Breganzie Triples after that figured my SF0 was the safest bet.
