I recently bought a restored 74 3c from Bonhams at the Stafford show .sadly when I put a battery on it I have nothing happening I turn the key and there is nothing no power at all. I have power to the fuses and out the other side but that’s as far as I’ve got does anyone have a wiring diagram I could follow . I guess that’s the risk you run buying at auction . But it looked so gorgeous and can’t wait to here it run
 
You should find a wiring diagram in the library here. In case your 3c is still equipped with the factory wiring that is.
Do you have any more history regarding this 3c, e.g., date of last service or timespan it was out of service?

Not sure what that tank looks like I think it's original do you know of bike .I'll check some more of the wiring tomorrow. Thanks for your help I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow
 
I know nothing but every time I have had a wiring issue stop my bike its been a broken earth wire somewhere. Try jiggling the wiring around the steering area, coils, key switch and kill switch plus the battery earth and see if the neutral light comes on.
 
In addition to your electrical issue I would at least take the tank of and check valveplay. Further have a look in the carb bowls. Are they clean, or is there any dirt / jelly remains?).

If you find something suspicious there I would take it as a sign to dig deeper ...

Throttle would not move .the slides were stuck solid .now have them sliding and throttle snaps back .just need to find out why I have no power at the handle bar end
 
Nice pre oil cooler and 200mm big Bosch headlamp (by the looks) Check you haven"t got one of the cdi ignitions to coils (on right under tank`) that are "upwide down"mounted some were made like this, which caused problems,otherwise they are very reliable,or it may be just a bad earth.I"ve a Witt ignition on my Jan 74 1580 but standard on my drummer.1110
 
Ah, that one. Nice looking bike at a reasonable price whatever needs (or not) doing.
Mine was like this and every thing needed doing, and was done.

If the slides were stuck, there's bound to be a lot more to attend to before a start should be attempted. Stuck slides are a sign of a veeeeeery long and careless lay up.

A thorough precautionary check of engine internals and ancillaries can spare a lot of grief after a seasons' riding stumbling from one breakdown to the next...

Yep, better throw a few hundred at it now, than a few thousand soon.

This is some good advice. It seems like a really nice bike - don't take shortcuts!
