Laverda 750 sfc tank bag.

I found that a BMW multivario tank bag was a perfect fit on my RGS. Totally off topic, but the thread reminded me. Like the elefantenboy, it could be expanded to enormous size. The straps clipped onto the tank just above the fuel taps.

Your SF2 has a nice luggage rack, very similar to what was once made for my 750 replica type by a previous owner. Unfortunately the rack disappeared before I bought the bike. A one off made for your SF2?

I overlooked a nail on the road in the Vosges mountains, where we stranded the day before while on our way to the Swiss Laverda rally. Our club president on SF2 crashed into the back of our treasurer on GTL and bent both his fork tubes. My dear wife immediately sent us new pair that I had on the shelf in my cave by DHL which arrived the next morning. When we left the hotel in the morning I found the flat tire. Pumped it up hoping it would take some time to deflate and stranded somewhere in the middle of a forest, halfway to the workshop that kindly let us do our repair work there. Replaced the fork tubes and repaired the tire all within 24 after the accident, and made in to the rally just in time..

The rear hub is a home fabricated thing using the cush drive from a 3CL.

The image in the opening post is NOT of a Harro Elefantenboy. These always had leather straps with metal buckles, with a flimsy vinyl flap for paint protection.

I ditched my Harros long ago (I wore out 3 or 4) and went to magnetic tank bags. The Harro is sturdy and looks over-engineered, but it's nowhere near as practical as it may seem. Weather-proofing declines after a few years of use, the rubber backing of the canvas part deteriorates. Zippers are also no longer the quality they used to be, the foam cushion for the tank disintegrates, leaving the rivets for the fixing straps free to gouge your fresh paintwork...

My magnetic bags have stood up far better, partitioning is far more useful. Just won't work on plastic or alloy tanks...

Imho, any modern tank bag is loads better than the old Harro, if you're looking for practibility. For the classic retro look, it can't be beat.;)

Good memories too.. Our club secretary’s 1972 SF was the least maintained of the quartet, but ironically he was the only one without any issues.. 😀

My mate Martyn from the UK was riding the Motodd.
I took him down Stuart Rd, short cut from Augusta to Walpole to avoid Nannup. They have since paved that road.
It was deep gravel in places and in hindsight was probably a silly route to take as Martyn didn't have any experience riding shit roads like that plus it wasn't the best road to take the SFC but back then it was just another motorcycle.
