Laverda New Products in Production.

:o Nice indeed.

I had some pipes that were black chromed once, looked great new, I hope yours last better than mine.
Time was not kind to them, especially where they glowed a bit when ridden a bit hard ........ well, I was younger.  :D

Love the look of that black chrome! Look forward to hearing when available for 180 Jota..any idea how they react to heat? How are they best looked after? As I have a black ceramic collector box which didn't fit Keihin, I guess that should fit new headers and silencers? There are a couple of Jota pics in the Parker guide wearing black systems..they do look cool. What is the price of 3 headers, 2 silencers? I have told my wife that these jewels are worth it whatever!
Cheers

I had  black  chrome on my Gpz 1100 - as standard.
It looked a million dollars, but needed care with special black chrome polish.

Took it off for a Harris black chrome 4 into 1, sounded lovely but finish not as good.
Depends on the plater I suppose.

The Kawasaki black chrome exhaust system sat in my mum's loft for many years and was in perfect condition. Mum gave it to my brother in-law who sold it for not much.
It would probably be worth close to a thousand pounds now - rare as hens teeth.

I may consider Malcolms black chrome as it looks fantastic with a red colour scheme.

He was very busy packing pipes, clamps and silencers when I called yesterday....some 20 boxes awaiting courier collection.  Seems his chroming company can do black as readily as chrome for a reasonable extra charge.  Apparently the process is identical until the final step, so can't imagine why the finish should be any less robust...both have nickel underneath.  Did look lovely glinting away in the sunshine, photos don't do justice....'it's black, Jim, but not as we know it'

Thanks chaps..really is excellent that this stuff is being done..like the carbon fibre stuff too, who would have thunk it, so long after the factory's demise? Reckon Piero should give it the thumbs up too, wonder if he knows about this?

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the enquiry........as Rob said, I have been inundated with packing down pipes, exhaust clamps, collectors and Jota silencers into boxes and sending out with UPS.......
Since I posted the pictures of the Black Chrome on here and the Laverda Riders facebook, I have had about 22
serious enquiries already, rather unexpected.......
It has resulted in 5 confirmed orders now for down pipes and collectors with exhaust clamps.
The black chrome down pipes posted are a special order for Nick Alcock, and the finish is incredible.......
Chromium plating like most things is like everything else......"You get what you pay for.."  My platers have perfected the finish over 30 years, and also do the finish for Motad, who require a good quality product.

I am now happy to offer this finish on any exhaust component I manufacture including silencers, collectors, exhaust clamps and down pipes.
I am going to do a full Jota system and will post it on here when done........

regards
Malcolm

Following making Down Pipes for all 3 cylinder models now, and a special request from Nick Alcock for Black Chrome, I have had numerous enquiries about other models......and now several orders. Here are some pictures of early 1000/1200 Down Pipes, this set for Bjorn Andersson in Sweden.
I am quite happy to manufacture all down pipes, collectors and silencers, and Monty Systems in Black Chrome now........The finish looks like black glass........beautiful......

Malcolm, great products which you can be really proud of. (bigthumb)
This is where I started from 3yrs ago, had fitted an set of old 120 downpipes, as they came with the bike in one of the baskets. PITA to tweak them onto the bike, and make the entire boondoogle a tacky looking, but halfway  fit. Didn't work that well, Collector box way too low, fouling the folded centre stand, akward silencer position, ending out at different heights etc. Never looked right to me.

Then Malcolm came in to the rescue with his reproduction down pipes. Five days after I wrote Malcolm an email , the pipes showed up at my front door here in Germany. Actually, he gave me a hard time with keeping up the pace in paying for them.  When opening the package, I immediately knew it was money well spent.
Now look how nicely Malcolms downpipes sorted the appearance of me ole 3C. What a delight!

They not only slipped right into place, but cured all of the former problems I had with exhaust fit. The plating finish is no less than brilliant. No blueing/heat staining observed anymore. Just love them. Top of the shelve product at a very reasonable pricing.
Many thanks to Malcolm for the beatiful product and the great service, well done.  (bigthumb)

Regards,
Stefan

Stefan, those look great, as does the whole bike. Malcolm does a top notch job on everything he makes, nice to have suppliers that have the heart and should to make the product better than the originals.

BTW, is that blue the original factory blue?

Clay, no, it's not the factory paint, bike had a respray. But found some unmolested original paint behind one of the sidecovers. Scanned it, best match at more than 99% was BMW 314, which is now on the bike. It matched also in reality quite well to the bit of original colour left. BTW, you have to see it in the flesh, it looks always different on pictures. It changes appearance depending on lighting in real, too.

Nice work they do look the business I myself prefer the bright chrome as apposed to the black.  Now that the headers are available will most def have to get me some of them good work Malcolm as always.

Plus one with what Maurice said about the rear guard though Stefan.
Does that mean I am becoming a rivet counter also ??????

I now have the first of the black Chrome systems from Malcolm for my Jota...am hoping to fit tomorrow answer send Malcolm some pics for posting...looks really nice...took a while to unwrap as Malcolm certainly takes great care  to bubble wrap etc .

Well spotted, Maurice, it looks indeed a bit shabby, especially as it has a chrome plating added, which locally starts to peel off. Otherwise, quite like the sporty look 8). It also saves a pound of weight, and the numberplate does work as well. Will probably keep it and just give it a brush up during next winter, leaving some fodder for the rivet counters. :D :D :D

I like the shorter guard, I did similar thing on my 79. But I cut it short at the front and remounted it by drilling new holes. That kept the pressed bulging around the outer rim.

I've heard you like bulging your outer rim...

Hi Malcolm, I am looking for a Monty exhaust to replace the Marvin 2 into 1 that I currently have on my 500.
Can you tell me if your system is quieter than the original ? The Laverda pipes are famously loud ( as is my Marvin ) and I am looking for something that I can use without people throwing rocks at me.

Thanks. Richard.
