Laverda side stand

Does anyone have any pics of a jota or 3/c side stand ,or even better one for sale.the one I have bolts up ok ok but doesn't kick forward enough or flip up enough but I can't find any pics of what it should look like

If it's the one that attaches to the engine mount under the primary case throw it in the bin.

it is in the wrong place and does not support the bike at all well, especially if uneven ground, in the worst case, even a mild crash, it very likely will rip out the crankcase stud and ruin the crankcases, but at best the stud strips and causes grief in that direction,.
The Jota Joe/Lawton/Bushman conversion using a stock Kawasaki side stand moves the mount to very close to the swing arm and is a splendid thing, which works very well.

It's a Kawasaki ZX6R stand. You need the adaptor plate to go with it and you might find that it interferes with the main stand tang in which case a mod is necessary but it makes the Kawa stand too long and bike too vertical. I've ended up using a slightly shorter stand off a Bimota DB, probably Ducati origin..

Hi Chris,

You can either message Grant on facebook ClubLaverda.com as he recently had a new batch of stands prepared for sale, I'm not sure if they come complete with the adapter plate you will have to ask him about that or enquire on here for the Jota Joe/Lawton/Bushman conversion plate.
I also noticed that Ralph at Motalia was stocking them too as a complete item.

There does seem to be a mixed bag response regarding the centre stand tang, some owners have to cut, reposition and reweld it, others cut it short and leave as is creating a mild struggle in putting the centre stand down......or if you are lucky like me a quick calibrated belt with a rather large hammer adjusted it nicely and it is no longer a concern. and is still fitted.

Luckily i can use both stands too and wouldn't be without my Kawa side stand,its certainly an essential addition in my books for safer dismounting
I also fitted a grub screw into the mounting bracket allowing me to adjust the resting height of the stand away from the silencers. (bigthumb)

I'll try to take a pic tomorrow of my system. I hope to have time to mount the Ducati stand. I have a plate that mounts the stand a couple of inches further back making the centre stand tang issue redundant but the 1.5cm thick plate pushes the stand out a bit making the bike stand too upright. If the Ducati solution works, I'll be selling the ZXR6 stand which is brand new. Stay posted.

Incidently, the plate I had originally wouldn't mount on my frame. The spacing of the holes for the bolts was off. I had a new one made and sent the original back to Joe. It mounts on his 1200 frame so there appears to have been a degree of variability on those early frames.

No - rear wheel off the ground (front wheel I know only from the old 2V-Beemers).

Are Laverdas rear heavy (front wheel off the ground) on a center stand?

Triples are almost balanced. Front heavy, until you remove the front wheel, the bike then just tips rearwards (if the stand isn't totally, completely knackered). Not many bike manufacturers got that right.
