Discussions have a beginning and an end.
Otherwise it's a bridge afternoon, with tea and scones

But the odd thing (the irony) here is that ... as I previously intimated ... when 'someone' insists on having the last word, the 'discussion' is simply prolonged to an even greater degree. Oh, when will it all end?! 🤣

My personal modus operandi with 'discussions' is to either engage, choose to ignore (if I have little or no interest), or to read simply out of interest and acknowledge that I have nothing to offer.

I just whack on the jam and lather on the cream

Whilst not ideal, black tea is acceptable and the savoury accompaniment of a cracker with tomato may prove to be a most pleasant repast- more high tea than cream tea..
High tea means something a bit different out here in the west...
And I'm afraid that Vince is absolutely right about butter. As a descendant of dairy farmers it's actually considered compulsory.
Following the butter I usually apply cream and jam in equal quantities then stir them together with my little finger to prevent arguments.
This is also why my little finger sticks out when I pick up a teacup, so I don't get cream and jam all over the place. We're all very cultured out here, unless we've been drinking high tea...

Just to make any mortgage holders really love our Central Bank, BY far the best Scones I have ever eaten were made every day piping hot for Morning Tea were at the staff canteen at the Sydney Office Building for Australias Reserve Bank. They were so good I struggled to choose between the Date Plane or Cheese ones. Never seen a Cheese Scone since, I miss them so much. Super cheap as well, subsidised by the Bank.
