Once the choke actuating link is suitably modified I will be able to at last start tuning the thing...

Thank you all for the support, more to come in the next few days.

It runs !!!!
I can at long last understand what is the fuss about jota pipes sound...
It took the expected enlarging of pilot jet and main jet plus raising the needle but nothing overly complicated.
Throttle response is very sharp with those CV I can only imagine what it must be with supposedly even sharper Micuni RS
I have an appointment for safety inspection this Friday so should be able to comment more by then.
A couple more pics:

First ride !!!!  :D

Took the Mirage for mandatory safety inspection yesterday.
It just breezed through with more time for paperwork than for actually inspecting the bike as it was obviously OK.
I then could try it...
I only did something like 10 minutes and then changed the oil again as the bike sat for 10 years with no valve cover, who knows what fell in there...
It goes well, really well with tons of torque from 1000 rpm.
The transmission shifts well enough but requires a stronger actuation than what I am used to.
The brakes are ok no more but I am using a modern Nissin master cylinder on the front as the re sleeved one I bought turned out to have a machining flaw and does not work so maybe it will be better with the proper master.
My approximate jetting while giving excellent response was in fact on the rich side as a plug removal at the end of the day revealed.
A little fab work to hook my innovate wide band meter to the exhaust will get me through this in no time.

My friend Gilles who owned this bike before passing away last December would be very happy to see it now.

So thanks a lot to all, while I did not ask that many questions I certainly did use the "search" button a lot !!!

The amount of info available here for Laverda owners is just incredible !!!!

In no particular order:

Not sure whats cleaner, the bike or the workshop.Looking good there.BTW my bike has CV Kehans,it also has an airbox. If I don't run the carb breather hoses into the box it runs like crap, forgot to a couple of times. How does yours cope without the airbox?

Thanks guys !!
It's nice to know that people who know and appreciate the brand like what I did to mine.
Vince, my breather hoses are vented directly outside without so much as a hose, but if you have an air box I can understand that you need to regulate the carb bowl pressure to inside airbox pressure. With open filters like that I don't believe the pressure varies very much between in and out and if it does I can just jet accordingly.
Mine are working beautifully and are not yet fine tuned with a wide band O2 sensor.

Where on the exhaust did you end up mounting the wide band sensor?

Or did you make a fitting and insert it into the 'end' as needed ?

Thanks
Andy

Bike looked big....until the photo of you sitting on it.  :o

Looks lovely and almost enough to convert me to liking lizard green.
