Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello....Modern RGS??

Saw this new Guzzi in person today. Also saw some YouTube reviews of this bike. I like the looks (much better looking in the flesh than in two dimensionsd) and the reviews seem quite positive. An interesting option for a Sport Tourer. It seems like a modern day cross between a Lemans and an SP1000. In Canada its priced reasonably.

If Laverda was still around would they make a modern day 3 cylinder RGS in this vein? If so I think I would buy one. Oh well, enough day dreaming.

I really like the look of it and even toyed with the idea of one, but there are lots of owners already posing stories about non-functioning tech, electrical issues and engine paint peeling. I also wonder how the long the active aero flaps will be working once they get wet🤔
Shame as it looks the part.

That’s why all my other bikes were Japanese and why I always had a Japanese bike and my Laverda. Not just the RGS and nothing else.

Also, I think expectations have changed as manufacturing processes have improved in all sorts of industries, not just cars and bikes. I remember very well when a car was completely worn out at 100k miles whereas today that’s just the prime of their middle age. Now we expect a vehicle to start every time as soon as we touch the key, to always run smoothly and to rarely if ever need a tuneup or a lube job. My rental today was a 45k mile Nissan Kicks that had me doing a double take at the odometer: I was convinced it read 4500 miles from the way it felt and drove!

If I was in a position to buy a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin or other exotic my expectations would be the same. At least as long as they were under warranty!

I like it. A reasonably significant development, and about time. I might book a test ride, when we get ‘em!
I just looked more closely at it and it’s a damn good looking machine. I do like the way they turned the cylinders and the header pipes. The single side swingarm is nice too, with no need to adjust a chain there is no rake change like on all the other bikes that use a big eccentric, looking at you Ducati!

....in the factory brochure, air force version, Harrier jet in the background... Marines AV8B would be more colourful, name Italian use British jet design as background. Still pondering the transverse exhaust port? Suppose the inlet is now between the cylinder heads... pithy observations..j

Like the side exit nozzles on the Harrier perhaps

Putting the throttle bodies under the tank makes for a very sleek looking engine. The gold valve cover keeps it from looking like an air compressor.

Looks like a good opportunity to burn the legs to me. Reckon it would need to be supplied with a roll of exhaust tape,

Interesting concept though.

If you look closely, the “pipe” is actually a heat shield over the actual pipe.
This is more likely to stop exhaust from going blue with the heat than burning sandal wearing legs.
BMW use double skin pipes to stop them bluing which people were moaning about and even claiming on warranty!
The V100 is a very smart move for Guzzi- very much a true Guzz but right up to the minute whilst looking radically different from anything else- Me biased? Naaaah🤣

Fuck, it’s own mother would drown it, I do believe there is a forum for guzzi lovers…
Time for false binaries has been and gone, Cosi. We can find more than one bike attractive. At least I can. Some here even like 180s with fairings, so beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.
I commend Pierre Bourdieu to you, in the hope you might find explanations for your assertions on aesthetic beauty, viz “Taste is first and foremost distaste, disgust and visceral intolerance of the taste of others. (Bourdieu, 1984, ‘Distinction: A Social Critique of the Judgement of Taste’)

I think that Guzzi looks pretty cool. I wonder why it took them so long to move the carbies/throttle bodies out of the way of the rider's knees. Honda did it with their CX models by twisting the heads 45°. Guzzi has gone the full 90°. I suppose it leaves the space behind the cylinders clear for something else. It would be interesting to see how things are arranged under the tank.
