sort of correct Vince, guys name was Colin Will, he worked for Halliburton as a Cementer on Oil & Gas rigs
He built the bike based around an Egli frame though the frame was not made by Egli, think it was made by Terry Prince who made at least two of those frames
Shortly after the bike was finished it was crashed which totaled the fairing, seat unit and the tank, I saw the 2nd frame with the damaged tank later on and was offered it for sale as well but declined to buy it

I wound up buying Colin's bike but was not that impressed with the rear suspension set up, sitting on the bike lifter when you revved the engine the whole back of the bike squatted down quite a lot
Thought about redesigning it to make it work better but in the end sold the bike to Crispin as had found a brand new never used Mk 3 Motodd frame in the UK which I bought as well as a Mk 4 Motodd which I sold before it even left the UK
Then I built the Mk 3 Motodd but sold it to Mike as decided the Scorch frames were a better design

Bike as finished by Colin

For what it’s worth, I bought a 3CL sans motor off Colin, he told me it was the/a donor bike for his build.

1982 Honda CX 500. Finished this in August. Custom aluminum bodywork from Thailand. MAD exhaust, carb conversion from Murrays carbs, custom ignition/charging from Rae-San. MotoGadget M Unit Blue and associated bits. Runs really well. Not overly fast but hums right along. Limited fuel range. The photo of the bike out in the foothills outside of Calgary was taken when I ran out of fuel........
Those photos have a distinct Bragg Creek feel to them :)

Hi Ian

why yes, they do. In front of the Cinnamon Spoon, then ran out of fuel on the way back from the end of the pavement out past Elbow Falls, dodging cows and cow patties........
I spent lots of time in that part of K country between Elbow Falls and Hwy40/ Peter Lougheed and the Spray Lakes. I took my wife out to Waterton just before the pandemic and rented a pickup and hit all the off grid cattle roads and was pleasantly surprised to find out that Hwy 40 from Coleman to Peter Lougheed is now paved. I'd love to twist it up through there now but the idea of hitting an elk (not Anne Elk..... Monty Python reference) is less than appealing. I used to love doing the drive along 22X as well... beautiful country. :)

For what it's worth I run out of fuel at least once a season on my street tracker...... no reserve on the petcock. On the plus side, I've met some great people that way, but when you're giving a guy $20 for a gallon of last years lawn mower fuel what's there not to smile about. lol

yes, beautiful country and great motorcycle roads, however....... cattle wandering freely across some of the roads, cow patties on the road in the corners, and the various wildlife - deer, elk, moose, and the occasional bear - inspire a sense of caution and self preservation while riding. Even "pre riding" a spectacular section of twistiness and then coming back the other way in a more spirited fashion is still no guarantee that something wont sprint out in front of you

this past summer, in British Columbia on my H2 SX SE, early in the morning to avoid traffic, I came around a blind corner in a spirited fashion to find the road blocked by adult wild turkeys, big mean buggers. Hilarious in hind sight but startling in the moment
