Fastest production motorcycle in the world in ... what was it, 1976? Not a lot of fun riding the fastest motorcycle in the world flat out hanging onto to handlebars with the wind trying to blow your head off!! I really notice it when I'm riding an unfaired bike at anything over about 80kph.

Back in the day, 140 and more up the Gosford expressway was a Chin the bar exasise. Bloody hard work cruising at that speed on naked bikes. I used to hear, The wind holds you up, Maybe my sail area was bigger than most. Those days are over in Oz. Keep it under 120 or you're a big target for trouble. At that, you can plead for making a simple mistake, above and not a hope.

Darwin in two and a bit weeks began looking and feeling way too much like hard work Prez. A week and a half in the fabulous Flinders Ranges then home last Friday. Uber arriving at 5.40 tomoz morning to take us out to the aeroporto for the trip part 2 - Indonesia for 3 1/2 weeks. Been a long haul so far ... looking forward to doing ... bugger all!!
 
Hi Greg, finally remembered to have a look for the rubber cover for the front indicator on the 80 fairing. Unlikely previous posts the original factory fitment was using two nylon screws and nuts. I’ve included some pictures of the back of the indicator and the rubber boot that covers it. Good luck finding the boots 😢 I bought my 80 Jota new and this was the way the bike came from the factory. Let me know if you want more pics and I’ll dig out the fairing which has its indicators mounted.

Tom: I THINK I can track down the shroud from Europe (?) somewhere from an Autobianchi
parts dealer...I think. Can you tell me the numbers/letters molded into the shroud from your
bike. My suspicion is that there is a left and right cover with an "S" or "D" molded into the
sequence to differentiate. Of course don't mention the parts are for a Laverda...Grazie

Cheers for the photos Tom I am also watching this post with interest.the first photos show 4 wires or rather 2 pairs of wires entering/exiting from the indicator whereas mine just have the 2 wires (1 pair) connected.
Were they wired as daytime running lights also or just as indicators?.....it seems the same way on the A112.

Mine don't have the seal backing fitted but now i've seen them they would certainly be a nice to have item,however the 30E postage from Italy where they all seem to live seems a tad steep for something that I don't really need but is sitting in the in box of possibilities!

WELL ! I have now taken the leap into the expensive unknown. After seeing new matched sets of the
turn signal from Italy on eBay at 50 Euro that WOULD ship to Canada/USA for a fee....that fee being
100 Euro to my door in a moment of non-lucidity I bought them !! Fingers crossed !That leaves me
with two new sets of the damned signal light sets (without shroud) to re-sell. Buyer's queue starts
over there... Thanks to all who played along. That means you Tom.

I very much prefer the later fairing visually, and its capability to leave quite clean air behind it for the rider. It matches the combination of curves and ridges of the rest of the bikes bodywork, rather than the “SFC cheap sort of copy” of the 1980 model.
 
That fairing looked great in dark candy apple green on the 1200 I built in '84. Had to get one as soon as I saw it. Very effective. Wish I had the sense to photograph before sale.
 
Received my two new signal/shroud assemblies from the Motherland after paying UPS another $28.00....
customs fees you know...yeah right ! My final observation is that it seems the shroud must be fitted on the
inside of the fairing due to the external opening not allowing the shroud and assembly to be fitted together
from the outside. Is that right ? Tom,you can field that one.
