77 Jota, took off my wiring loom and after labelling and photographing everything all ok except neutral light permanently on. I have Rupes diagram and the Tim Parker book but they show some differences. I have a switched 12 volts through the bulb down to switch. Is this correct, does the switch only close for neutral, connecting to earth. Thanks Richard

Presuming you haven't taken the switch out in which case shimming is likely awry, you have an earth problem.

Paul, don’t think I have an earth problem, bike is running which I think indicates crankcases are earthed. Wil try to test switch without taking it out. I have not taken the switch out so I guess shimming ok.
Thanks Richard

At risk of stating the obvious, what happens when you remove the faston connector to the crank case switch? Usual to insulate that faston connector ie should it touch the crankcase or deformed profile. HTH j
