I can add that Slaters only ever imported two drum brake triples, one of them killed a prospective punter at a test day in Collington, he left the forecourt of Slaters wuith the real wheal spinning and oleft a darkie of about 40 metres, a real full on black tyre smoking darkie, we all thought he must be a brilliant rider to have so much control, a few miles away from Slaters premises, the bike was found at the roads edge against the bank, but the rider could not initally be traced, he had gone over the hedge and landed breaking (fatally) his kneck, the bike wasnt terribly damaged. It got rebuilt and may have changed colour, it was very likley sold on as a new bike, the other had a change to disc brakes at some point and was owned by, a fellow with a double barrelled surname that I just cant recall, a hippy like character and very well spoken. John Brandon may have bought it, but that one had a major engine blow up and the welded repairs were horrendous by what is being achieved today, Those were the two officially imported drummers at the time, as most have said 1973, but may even have just even been finished assembly in very late 72, although I doubt it. Several drummers have come in (and some gone) since then, but the first was long long ago when the factory PR man at the time a Swede called Hans Blomquist rode his own 3C from Breganze to Ongar in Essex and sold it to "Ongar motorcycles" where it soon found a new home, that was in about 1976, the bike was distintive in that the Boranni rims (alloy) had been chromed, there were a few other changes, but I cant recall what they were.
the bike we are talking about here is not likely to be any of them as they all had three/one/two exhaust systems that we would all recognize, the first bikes had a three into one, the first of the later exhaust was 1057, so this must be 1056 or earlier, very likely not sold through Slaters.
Please give me a break if any of this can be proven incorrect as its all from memory and is getting perilously close to fifty fornicating years! all but the last two.
