Hi everyone, just collected a red Atlas from Germany.
I know nothing about them, any tips for ownership and light recommissioning.

looks a really tidy bike, not seen a manual on this or other sites but that's always useful and then work your way through making sure it goes, handles and stops.

There was an Owners site with a lot of info, German-based I think. It went away a while ago and came back recently. I did a search but it has gone again. There are some non-functioning links for this still about.

Swiss importer Möri imported that bike. It’s one of the last Atlases to leave the factory. Only few were made in this red livery, who knows maybe only this one.

Hi Marnix, I must say I have never seen a red one either and actually I have never seen one of these bikes ever.
I’m not sure if it will be desirable?
Maybe they will be as they didn’t make many and I don’t think there will be many left on the road.
Does anyone have one on here. ??

I did get quite a lot of paperwork with the bike and lots of technical drawings and part numbers if they will help anyone ?

Desirable is when you ride it around on and off the road. They are quite a rare bike, you are lucky to get this one in apparently so good condition. Being as old as it is you will doubtless have some things to attend to now and then. The carburettor is unusual for a motorbike but very common on cars so there should be plenty of information on the net if needed.

Funny you should say that as the carburettor is brand new and the old one came with the bike 👍

There are sure to be old style carburettor companies that can recondition the original. There is even such a company here in Norway - where almost nothing gets fixed. Does the bike go well, new carb and all?

Hi Tippie, I have not ridden the bike yet, I’m working until Sunday when I will have a good look at it. I have had it running but it was a little hesitant.
I’m sure with a service and some fresh fuel it will be lovely.

Luck boy, I had a short ride on one of the 2 I know about in Oz. Sadly only in the lower gears around a paddock so hard to form an accurate opinion. But really what's not to like, 4 valve engine and I think a 6-speed box, balance shaft to control the vibes, long-travel suspension, big tank, I would love to own one.

Hi Vince, yes I’m looking forward to it.
I have quite a lot of other big trail bikes from the eighties and nineties so it will fit into the stable no problem.
I suppose my other rare bike is a Gilera Dakota 500.

Florence is a boy? Do you know something we don't?
