Careful what you wish for Matt - it's not all Beers on a Friday evening - actually its a tip top life and i'm saddened that i can't take advantage of my current status and hang out at the pool with Gonz :)

Red/Max: Really looking the goods guys, i can't help but think that the shed may becoming a tad cramped ;)

Cheers

Peter

Red - Is that a black box containing electronics on the front of the motorcycle lift? - If so it may be a good idea to rubber mount it as there will be a lot of energy and vibes that may shake it up a bit - Regards - Phil

Hey Phil, as Drikko said, SID Pro box is mounted on 15mm foam mat, glued to a 8mm thick steel plate which is mounted on 4 x vibration mounts though am going to get mounts with a lower Duro rating so it isolates better
thanks for the suggestion though, all ideas are welcome, easy to forget something

photo's taken beer time Wednesday night, been a couple of days since we posted something
not much movement on the fabrication but getting through mounting electrics, sensors, controls, etc
Drikko was over last night to start the wiring job, dozen stubbies later and finish up just after midnight, big effort and a top job on Drikko's behalf, can power up some lights now and the so called flash Starter button glows when pushed
whooppeee

ignore the plywood front, is just there as a template for laying out everything
waiting on some gauges to arrive, few other bits and pieces

long way to go yet, have to redo the back end to fit the Load Sensor correctly, weld it out, clean it up, paint it Orange, etc

Well then it's more a Porsche engine than a Harley, right?  :-*

Germans like to consider the end product as being built by Porsche... sorry to disappiont you Lothar, but Porsches input was quite minor.  And what little input there was, most of that was thrown overboard.  Except their invoice, which, as you could imagine, was quite major!  IIrc, Porsche was primarily involved in cam and valve train design, the remainder was concocted in Milwaukee.

Actually, the VR1000/V-rod engine could well have originated in Breganze.  Had the chance to peek inside a VR1000 at Daytona all those years ago, "solidly built" would be a completely insufficient description!

Hi Piet,

well - where does the power come from? right, head and cams... oh- and the pistons are Mahle (German), the crank is Harz (German), the Ignition comes from Italy, the fuel injection from France - a real European Harley...   :D But how ever it is, the v-Rod was the first Harley that at least looked a bit special to me. Everything built between - say - 1980 and up to the vRod was not my cup of tea. But I don't like Choppers anyway, so I am the wrong to comment.

@Red: May I suggest you install some wheels to the chassis so that you can role it out of the way if you need the bike lift for something different? Not a big or expensive thing to do (but you need some solid ones and maybe not just 4, assuming the weight...), but could be useful and does not hurt if you don't need to role it away. Just as high as it needs to be to lift it off the lift when you put the lift down in its resting position. Just a thought.

trust you can get that chain from Andy, Red?
LJ

drive chain LJ?
bought local from the Chain Gang, pain trying to get the connecting links with the clips though, they told us that it is illegal to run a motorcycle chain these days unless it has a rivited link
sounds odd to me

Lothar, I bought the wheel set 10 weeks ago, intention has always been to mount the Dyno on its own stand with wheels so we can park it away while not being used
4 x 125kg load rated wheels, should be more then enough
am building it on my lifter as the shape is ideal and is also the largest unused flat surface left in my workshop
we are full at the moment, need to get rid of some bikes

Red, you're doing a splendid job as usual. but one thing stands out for me, how the H are you going to get motors in and out of it without an overhead hoist ? The standard frames are bad enough but that will require a major sideways lift.
Any possibility of putting the motor mounts on a rail setup to slide out sideways ?

Just the 2c worth from a tired old B with a buggered back....

we have an overhead hoist that covers roughly 22sq/m

the frame with the fuel tank and electrics is pinned, remove the 4 pins, lift it off and engine lifts straight up
engine is sitting on its on sub frame so for different engines we just make new sub frames, everything else remains the same

latest shots of the Dyno, finally mounted the Load Cell and Speed sensors
made the oil lines and installed the oil temp sensors, moved the oil coolers below the unit, they will be cooled by the second fan
installed the MAP and Crankcase pressure hoses
made the front panel
Drikko would be 80% finished on the wiring, big job there by itself
getting there
