Nice Laverda Triple on Car and Classic

Just saw this thread talking about the Bonhams jota. Didn?t realise it was the same one as I mentioned in another thread, still very high prices, good for sellers,

In the long run, not good for motorcyclists.

It's good if you consider how much these bikes cost to restore. The money is no longer thrown down the toilet.

Not if they're not worth much in a few years time.
Which will be the case when us old  gentlemen are cold.

If someone buys a high end car new then the depreciation in the first couple of years will easily equal the value of one of these bikes I know I?d prefer the bike and the bike may actually increase in value. What is sad is that the higher value ?preciousness? discourages regular use for many. As for the iconic status of the Jota that?s both a blessing and a curse for the marque
.

Yep good points and if you can afford that kind of money chances are you can afford to ride it and look after it 😏 let's face it all those bikes were wasted in storage now potentially they will be used, way to many bikes for one person  to ride 🤣

I'm not at all certain of that.
I'm very much afraid that a lot of people imagine that they can by an old bike in complete trust, particularly if sold by a reputable dealer and then cannot financially follow when the repair bill amounts to 50% at least of the buying price.
Just because, some of those bikes are fashionable.
And I'm also very much afraid that a lot of buyers don't give a damn because they don't intend to ride them very much and are falsely led to believe that in a few years, they can recoup their money.

They're very wrong.

just look at prices achieved (not the asking price) for Joltas and drummers in 2012 and then compare the same now.

Very true, was clearly a bike needing tlc and some recomisioning. Who knows what the new owner intends to do with it or if he has the cash to see it trough let alone if he cares about getting his money back? Seems pretty judgmental to me.

Next year, it'll be Rumi scooters. Oh, ok, they already are.
Kawasaki Blackbird R1 then.

I say it is time to Make Puch Great Again!

Yes Jim. Laverda is slowly leaving the classic mould to enter the vintage one.
Make your own parts unless a dedicated club has a parts scheme.
Ride twice a year during organised runs meeting all necessary standards and regulations.

Puch is of course lovely though doesn't look used much.
