Our good friend Jimmy Ferguson has passed away, QLD Laverda owner

Very sad day for the Australian Laverda owners and especially for the Queensland owners

Our close friend of 35 years, owner of a Laverda SF3 and some Guzzi's and a Ducati was killed on Friday while on his way to stay overnight at Bevelman's house
Jimmy, Lowy and Levo decided to overnight at Paul's to have a shorter run down to meet up with the NSW crowd at Walcha being the final meeting point for the NSW Brass Monkey run held this weekend

Jimmy was involved in an accident with a semi-trailer and died at the scene of the accident
Maxene and I will hold him in our memories for the rest of our lives, tragic news

Jimmy was also an Auto Electrician and was refurbishing all my Starter motors and building custom wiring looms for me
This tragic accident is going to force me into rethinking how much longer I wish to keep Redax Laverda operating, we have lost a couple of 3rd party suppliers recently which makes it all harder to keep going

RIP Jim, you will be sorely missed

Tragic news Red. I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy on a few occasions. A really nice fellow. Sincere condolences to all of Jimmy's family and friends.

Life Balance comes in forms not always obvious or expected, life reality can be stark, can be joyous. An illness, an accident is part of deciding what we actually balance. One extreme to another extreme, hope somewhere in between is the balance.

Had/having a scary episode here with super virus doing the rounds, you never read about. Put me out of bench repair work, electronics, For good. As your discovering R and M, there are others also making a permanent change, time has come, you make your call on the day. Best Thoughts to you both j
 
Very sad news, got to know Jimmy hanging out a Bruce's for that week.
Currently in North East Thailand spending time with monks, will light some incense and have my monk do some chanting to send him on his way.
Second loss for me this year, JC, 49 year friendship also had a incident with a truck in March that left him in a coma. His family turned him off after a week.
He was riding his sidecar at the time. Long term owner of a 3c brought new in 75. Like Jimmy he was also in a tight nit group of long time mates and is sorely missed.
Many people are hurting

Sad times indeed for all of us and our feelings are with Jim's family who must be shattered. He was a much loved and respected father and grandfather. The lads will chip in I'm sure, but they did push on and went to Walcha to join our NSW mates where I am sure a glass or two was raised to this fine mate of ours who will no longer regale us with his funny stories and cheeky grin.. Vale Jimmy, ride on man.

Bloody hell, if it's not old age and illness pushing us all over the edge we lose good people to accident. so sad to lose anyone and hard to take when it's probably avoidable. Sincere condolences to Jimmy's family - I have never met him but he sounds like a gentle and valuable human being.

My thoughts are with the Aussie Laverda community. What a terrible blow to suffer.

I never knew or met him (of course) but I still feel as though I have lost of my own. very sad news for those that are close to him, my thoughts go to them.
I hope and pray they have free TZ750's in the after life , if they dont, I cannot imagine what I will do.

So so tragic. I know what a close knit community the Old Lav club has always been, indeed the whole Oz community. Really hard to take such news. Deepest condolences to all of you and especially Jimmy's family.
 
He rebuilt my Frankenstine Starter, I thought I had bought a brand new late model unit from Eades years ago but in reality, it was half late model and half the old style starter cobbled together. He managed to rebuild it and make it work brilliantly, old school Tradesman for sure. Very sadly missed. This part of Motorcycling is the pits. RIP
 
I only had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy at Reds place and the Concourse - Condolences to his family and friends. - R.I.P.

your legacy in the LAV world will be happy memories of you and your brilliant work on our electrical systems.
Missed but not forgotten.
 
I am pleased to say that nearly 30 of us rode to Walcha on the weekend and gave Jimmy the first of what I suspect will be many send off's.
The Brass Monkey ride will now be officially known as the Jimmy run. He will not be forgotten.
RIP Jimmy and our thoughts go out to Jimmy's family and friends.
