Part number for 750 genny fan belt

Marty, I’ve got a couple of diff sized spares......

Challenge UK Z20 - 10x530Lp- 505Li.

Semperit Z-19 10x480

Will have a look at what’s on the bike tmorra !👍

Marty there's two standards for these belts and can therefore make a small hassle.

The original belt is Z belt, 10mm wide according to DIN 2215, and its length is:
-Internal Length: Li = 495 mm
-Pitch Length: Lp = 520 mm

Later came standard ISO 4184 and most belts of current production are for both of these standards.
This ISO standard defines datum length.
Datum Length: LdLi + 22mm = 517 mm
Outer Length is: LaLi + 38 mm = 533 mm (standard belt measures around 535 mm with tailor's tape measure, taking the thickness of the meter in account.)

Therefore for example both belts Z495 (according to DIN 2215) and Z517 (according to ISO 4184) are suitable.

Look for the letters Li, Lp, Ld, La when choosing a correct belt.

A slightly shorter belt can be used for slightly weared pulleys, it's usually the generator one that wears because it is made of aluminium and
the crank one is of steel.

Smallest 10mm belt available from Gates is 10a0545, that is 545mm.

Dayco is the other belt distributor in Oz, they list their smallest at 10a550.

If you go to an 11mm belt they have 11a528.

The 11 mm belt may sit a bit higher in the pulley

Got a standard 10mm x495 belt from Wolfgang, way way too tight.
11a0530 same, too tight. 11a 0545 is loose. Nobody makes anything between 530 and 545mm. Hmmmmm

Alloy brackets are 40mm. Standard?

Some have bought these, this has exactly same length to original:
Li = 495

This one is 2mm shorter than original, possibly more suitable for slightly weared pulleys, but 2mm is not much:
Li = 493

UK shop for Gates Li = 493:

Ok I missed the conversation of incorrect length.

Possibly something is then not standard. Very often the generator is shimmed outwards some way. Possibly steel plates under the generator is most usual.

When assembling the belt in place, the rear bracket of generator needs to be taken off. The outer bracket needs to be loosened.
In the standard construction the belt can not go in place other way.
