Part number for 750 genny fan belt

The belt cover is off on the SF2 for engine tuning purposes.
Belt is Z 19 1/2 x 10 x 500.
It's a toothed belt, been on there many years.
It's very loose. Probably slips a bit when accelerating but not enough for the generator light to come on.

Belt will more than likely slip when running at higher revs with electrical load (ie lights on). My genny did 250,000km before I replaced it with an alternator - never had a bearing failure, but did have a wire break internally after riding through many floodwaters between N NSW and Darwin in the 1974 wet season. A fully recharged battery got me the last 400km into Darwin - one benefit of the huge batteries they run. Won't have that luxury with the tiny LiFePo I'm using!!

Are you sure about that? At higher revs it should take less force through the belt to supply a constant load. Unless there is an issue with drag from the bearings, or centrifugal fling of the belt as it rounds the generator pulley?

cheers,

I had my most recent belt slipping. It felt what seemed tight enough but I could push the belt with it slipping around the crankshaft pulley. It would have been slipping as Quentin says, at higher loads but normal amp and volt readings were ok, so I was glad I found the cause of the battery just not quite keeping up. I recently fitted a notched type belt like that Paul mentioned to friends SF, fitted perfect. I think it was sourced from Andrighetto.
