Parts from Boba

It might be that due to Corona, the borders are closed and he can not drive to the other country from where the dispatching of parcels are way cheaper than from his own country. I wait for my sample tank I sent him 5 or 6 years ago, too. Last message about it was from September 2020 where he said he has issues to cross the border. That might not have changed ever since.

I asked him to comment here on the forum so everyone knows what the status is. German fellow also contacted me to ask if i can help on getting his parts from Boba, so I assume it is a general issue currently. Hope, it is not a health issue again for him!

I paid in full for carbon from Boba last November, he says the parts are made but no sign at all, last report I had from him said he had 'solved' the issues.
Ill give him a couple of weeks more.

been waiting for over 4 years, paid up front well over $4,000
have given up actually, just money down the drain
just like Airbnb, no refund

I latest have received a fairing from Boba one year ago, maybe Gert or Jean-louis know more how he is. I wonder Red that you wait for delivery since years. My experience was that things were going slow bur reliable??Any news about the calendar, Red? it is April now. 🧐🥱

Health issue or not, Boba should be upfront with his customers - I get the feeling that none of this is going to end well...

And here I was thinking of ordering a SFC tanks from him. Probably quicker to just make one myself. It only took me a couple of years to scratch build all the carbon on the Motodd.

Yes, thinking of going the same route. I retire in a month or so and first up I’ll try to make a carbon replacement for the RGS foam pad that sits over the bars for brother Marty. If that works out OK then I’ll have a go at making a carbon version of the Egli-style SFC seat unit to go on my 950 Le Mans Superleggera Carbone. I’ll make a foam and ply mould and then get a vacuum-forming kit to make the carbon bits.

Disappointing that Red, who has been a great commercial friend to Boba, should be put in the position he has been. The Guzzi tank brother Marty ordered so long ago was paid for in advance. Marty is generally pretty philosophical, and also philanthropic, but he prefers to know up-front that he’s making a ’donation’, rather than paying for something that doesn’t eventuate....

I had an email from him a few weeks ago, telling me the PO is not accepting parcel freight to Australia, because closed borders here have resulted in too few flights to guarantee service. He had obtained a Fedex quote for me and it was eye watering.

OK - so it is not only me... As PF1 said before, I still believe he is an honest person and his parts are really great. I just think he is struggeling with the logistics and would need help on that locally. I have first hand experience with talented persons that simply fail to either have controle of cost, logistics or accouting. That experience was with a business partner of mine which cost me almost 75.000€ personal money. A talented person must not always be a perfect business man.

I hope I see my tank back one day. More so I hope, Boba is not again facing health issues. He has had enough for 3 lives already... The rest is just money. Money can be replaced, health can't.

I also hope that Boba is not in any serious health issues, but communication with those that are waiting is important, even more so if money has been paid up front, I was one of the people who donated money (on my part a very generous amount) to help him pay his medical bills, and I have not ever bought a single thing from him, I do not regret that, because he recovered, which is what I wanted. there can be all manner of difficulties, but communication at all times should never stop. I cannot cope with this pay up front and not perform thing, for standard items, I will never pay up front, for a custom one off item (not something anyone else would want), I would of course pay something in good faith, by way of deposit, nor can I cope with the scenario, of "my bike/engine been there for XYZ number of years and still no hope of finishing", many bikes/engines (an SFC 750 engine even) have been lost for good, there is the possibility of a few more.
