Paul: Bet I die, with everything I own, which isn't much, before you do.

So you had better hang in there.

So how do I collect the bet ;o)

Your sentiment is apparent but I hope you both live to 100!

Wishing you the best possible recovery from this awful illness. I used to be on the old forum and have been a Laverda owner since 1983 and had a Mirage TS like yours. I still have my ,from new SFC 1000 that I'm re commissioning after a 30 year sleep.I have have seen you posting on the Bentley forum which is one of my other passions.

Well that was an unexpected wallop on returning to civilisation (the forum) after 8 days kayak camping around Norway's south east islands with flight mode telephone. Happy belated birthday Paul, and from the tone of your posts you are well ahead in the mental battle, great to see you so positive. As you say, if there's something you want to do, don't put it off. And as they say in norwegian "god bedring".

Hi Paul! What a shock after being away from the forum for a few weeks!
Five years ago you told me 'Life is Short'! Never has that statement resonated so strongly. I feel awful for not taking up your kind offer and making the most of life.
I have had family issues that threatened to take over my life for years. Things have now improved and morale is higher.
I am so glad that your cancer was caught so promptly and the prognosis so positive.
Take it easy and please keep us updated.
Please say hello to Diane for me!

Hi Simon

while I am not presently as yet up to a Laverda tour of the mountains with anyone, I am getting there and fully expect to be back in full form for riding season 2021. The offer of bed and bike still stands. Where Diane and I now live is considerably smaller than our previous living quarters, but there is still room. Diane says Hi back! Lots of great memories of our time with you, thanks so much again!

Ok, Paul I'm holding you to a ride next summer. Though you hardly have to be in top form to ride circles around me.

Hi Henry

for Nakusp for this summer, would have to be in the Bentley Turbo R, if I can ever get all the mineral oil hydraulic leaks stemmed all at the same time, and the air con working consistently. I fix/replace something, then leaks spring up somewhere else, just had one of the two hydraulic brake pumps rebuilt for the 3rd time, everything runs at ridiculously high pressures. I have replaced everything in the air con including all hoses (which I had made locally), except the Sanden air con compressor, presently on order from the US..... All 5,200 pounds weight of the car and Rube Goldberg unnecessary complexity has been way more of a project than any Laverda I have tackled, but I soldier on. I have succeeded with the Bosch mechanical fuel injection, dual ignition distributors, etc and the car is now running great otherwise, and all the electrical is now all working all at the same time, for now....... :o 8)

Next summer on a Laverda for sure!

Paul

Mr. LeClair,

I do not know you but certainly know of you through your many useful writings in this forum that I've perused over the last years as I researched, bought, and maximized an RGS. Thank you.

And, good luck to you - with your attitude, it's a safe bet you have this licked!

Hello Paul
I too,  do not know you, but have read and enjoyed your posts, I don't feel I belong here as I had to sell my Laverda due to the effects of the dreaded C , I do however look in now and then as enjoyed my ownership and still admire  Laverdas.
I was diagnosed with multiple organ cancer 18 months ago, my cancer has no happy ending, after 22 doses of chemo the  doctors decided I was more at risk of Covid than the cancer, so since March I have had no treatment, feel great, never thought I would again. I know this is only a temporary situation but am living life to the full, had my first hangover in two years this week, who ever thought you could enjoy a hangover! I am lucky that my treatment is funded by a research company and the NHS (god  bless them) at ? 9k a go I could never have funded it myself, the downside of this is they are chomping at the bit to get back on the trial.

I try and live by the Can in Cancer, even when I feel at my most shit, if you have you're head around it the rest follows, I love being on my bike more than anything , its difficult to get cancer out of your head but riding a bike seems to do it.

All the best, its difficult sometimes to stay positive, a work colleague recently asked me if I was still fighting the cancer, I told him that was the job of the doctors, I was just the reluctant host and every week politely asking it to fuck off!
Give it no respect, just crack on.

Good on you David. I lost my brother to cancer two or so years ago and I recall that he had a couple of weeks off-treatment and he felt well better than he had in ages (since going on treatment). Went back on and it was back to bad. It's such a hard thing to balance quality of life with extended life. Cancer really is shitful.
