Phone Charger Issue

I'm amazed I road all the way Round the world and found my way back home without a GPS.
Getting lost is quite often the fun part.
How about riding for 6 hours out of Mexico City thinking we were going east only to be told by a carload of university students who stopped to see what the f... we were up to, "you gringoes are going west". Shit, they shared a joint with us pointed out the correct way on a paper map and all was good. No GPS, no cell/mobile, no credit card, a simple gas station map, and your wits are all you need, cash helps.
I find GPS, Waze, Google maps, etc only useful in metro/city environs

No speed cameras, insane road rage, fast heavy traffic with no place to stop and read a map, most new expressways don't have breakdown lanes anymore, its major unfamiliar cities where this helps the most, it's not mandatory so its ok not to do this, the way Sydney is constantly changing. I nearly missed my home exit off The Bradfeild a couple of weeks back, there modifying both the Carl and Bradfeild expressways a kilometre from my house for the new 3rd Harbour road crossing tunnel from Balmain to my suburb and MAYBE the new road tunnel under Middle Harbour bypassing Military Rd and The Spit Bridge to The Northern Beaches. In one night they moved my exit, Northbridge on a blind corner, 500 mitres down the hill closer to The Harbour Bridge with no warning and the habit of nearly 50 years suddenly changed in one night and that's happening all over NSW.

White man needs to look at the sun.

We have a bunch of Safety Consultants that dream up crap to justify their jobs. Maybe if people concentrated more or stop driving like it was a video game the carnage might reduce. BTW I asked on another forum re poor phone charging and got this tip.
This gadget turned up tonight, $7 including postage. Will see what it shows tomorrow.

Jesus Vince
You are certainly a sucker for Chinese rubbish
🙄🙄
What’s the bet your remote battery pack sorts it and you didn’t need this piece of chinkie gimmetry .

Any arse clown could have told you that.

Apologies for my made up words to those who give a toss.

I’ll go back and hide under my rock now.

No need for the CAPITALS Vince 😂
Just a statement of facts that’s all.

1 You clearly have a passion for buying this stuff of the internet, as has been pointed out by others.

2 I would bet money your new remote battery, if it’s any good will sort it.

3 If you had asked me ( qualified arse clown ) at Dalgety I would have suggested the same.
Luckily Quentin was on to it.

Simple,

Anyone would think this was the CWA and not a motorcycle forum.

Oh and here’s a couple of 😀😀
Just in case.

Obvasly I need to simply expain this, I want to measure what is happening eg what is coming out of the plug on my bike. If I do that and then do the same on the plug in my car and the plug on the Pantah I will have a direct comparison and an idea of what is happening when the phone actually stays on in the car but not the bike. On the 3c it's in full sun so that's a variable in this situation and could be overheating it. It also could be overcharging and getting hot and switching off to protect itself or undercharging and just dying. I don't know but I am curious, but I am curious about everything and have been my whole life, I have a burning desire to know what is happening. That drives me in the whole scheme of Motorcycling, and lately more specifically in my Atlas that I and just about everyone else know nothing and the suspension faults in my 3c. And now to the main point, if you don't like the minutia I indulge in and CAPITALS AGAIN BECAUSE I AM PISSED OFF what a FORUM is, the discussion and exchange of ideas actually is and that involves lots of posting then as I said in another stupid exchange DONT READ IT. As an example, I don't get or understand that 3-word sentence thread getting attention so I just ignore it. You Tom and a few others get majorly amped when me and a few others engage, If it or anything else triggers you there is an easy fix. Ignore it. This concept of people posting too much is baffling to be, by what measure is this defined, and who decides? It's virtually and capitals again BOOK BURNING when people aggressively insist I shouldn't post that I deem appropriate and guess who loved that route? And I arrive at Gowins Law. I guess it is the Internet.

It's Godwin's Law

Tune out now if this doesnt interst you, this cool little gadget apparently measures with its USB connection Volts 4 to 20v --- Current 0 to 3amps--- time 0 to 99 H probably hours ---Capacity 0 to 99999mAh. I just did the 3c and it showed 5.6 volts and no other readings
the car showed 5.21 volts and also no other readings and both stayed the same engine on and not going and the engine on and revving to 3 grand. So both plugs are pretty close to the same but the phone likes the car better than the bike. So do I BTW. There isn't a mini USB connection so I cannot check the cables and the one on the bike has a magnet connection so possibly has less flow. The original mini USB would come out really easy so I bought a magnetic connector and it's way better at holding on but might not flow as well.

USB Voltage is nominally 5V. The voltage coming out of the 12V to 5V USB converter will be controlled by the micro brain in the converter, so it shouldn't rise and fall with engine revs. I'm guessing you didn't use the same USB power supply gadget in both car and bike.

I guess those measurements were done without the phone plugged in if it reads zero milliamps.

I'm tempted to buy one of those little meter doohickeys myself. I have a few things that plug into USB sockets, and I sometimes wonder how much power they draw. One thing I'd like to check is a little USB powered LED lamp that sits on my computer desk to illuminate my keyboard. It gets quite warm when in use, so I'm wondering how much juice it draws. I don't wanna run the risk of overloading the USB port on the computer.

Completely separate cig type sockets on the car std and bike, waterproof boat type I added that both have individual cig cavity that takes a USB male plug with that type of lead hole. Only the gadget plugged in, the gauge has a male-type end and a female-type on the other end. I was thinking that there might be a mini USB to the big USB adapter that would allow me to check the leads as well. BTW I made sure my new Lap Top had an illuminated keyboard that is really good for my old eyes.

Does anyone remember how to fold a map just right so it fits in that little see-through plastic screen on your tank bag,? I do.
The real problem for me is a map or GPS after I have been riding for a few hours my eyes will not focus on anything except the road ahead, glasses don't help because my focus is slow to adjust.

Me too. It was a Sony Vaio that was quite expensive. But it died not long after the warranty ran out. I had several guys look at it, but nobody could resurrect it. I think it was a motherboard meltdown or something. It was cheaper to buy a new computer than to get it fixed.

The computer I'm using now is a desktop with a tower case, large monitor and separate keyboard. I could get about double the performance per dollar than a laptop, and I don't need to take a computer with me when I go anywhere. My smart phone is good enough for mobile use. I can browse the web, check emails, etc. Why would I want a portable computer?

The only use I have for a laptop is in the shed. I plug it into Ignitech ignitions. It's an old dinosaur, but it does the job.

Or how to fold a map so that it doesn't tear itself apart at the creases.

Progressive lenses. Life changing for reading the map in the tank bag 😁
