Problem fitting damper assembly after rechroming stanchions

Many thanks. I understand the principle but it’s buried deep inside the stanchion when it needs compressing, at least with engine pistons they’re accessible to compress. Am I better feeding this in from the top of the stanchion then I wonder

Well to answer my own question it was better and so much easier to drop the piston in the top of the stanchion…worked an absolute treat
