QLD Historic championships

I guess rules are made for breaking. 🤔
Not at my end. The steward who kept telling the first owner to fit a blue plate got told by me to pull his head out of his arse and read the programme.
Trying to keep post classics legal is a minefield. When I was running a very quick young guy on his GS1000, the main opposition ran an RG500 Mk4.
And kept trying to get it past me at big meetings with a 5.5inch rear rim in it. 5.0 is legal here for that period If I didn't say anything the officials just let it go. Now his son lives next door - and I suspect him of nicking my firewood.

Entitlement can run in families, not just in motor racing. Can make it a real struggle to get enough volunteers to run events. When my kids were doing various sports I had some heated discussions with parents of kids who weren't doing what they knew was right. Can be difficult to argue with a parent who's "been involved in this sport all my life" (although not helping to run it, funnily enough). Makes life difficult for officials.

Regarding your firewood, can you train your cats to have a go at him...?

I think it is a problem the world over and has probably been ever since they introduced chariot racing back in the day. Someone is always looking for an edge over the opposition whether legal or otherwise.
And trying to level the playing field is always going to be a challenge for anyone trying to arrange a class that keeps everyone happy.
I’m currently pissed off because the lightweight class I could run my 500 in was changed to a maximum of 400cc, leaving me the option to run in post Classic, or singles, twins and triples. Oh yer, great race against a Panigale or ZXR750.
I asked for dispensation to run in the revised class but the answer was no, even though there is no way I will compete against someone on a Moto3 bike, so the bike will just get a run out on test days.
P.S. the bike currently has blue plates fitted, well the engine, like the one you did, started out as a 350 and also the F500s ran (light) blue plates at the TT.

....come on, what happened to Monty?
Hi Lee, been a bit busy so late reply..
Traced to a locked cam block.. some oil supply issues I expect as only 1 of 4 jammed up.. unfortunately would not release so we had to sacrifice a cam chain to get the motor apart..
Anyway, boxes of bits, lots of choices.. we'll get it sorted and have crack again next year..
Ya Gotta Love Ya Racing.. Laverdas..:p

Ciao Laverdaisti

Does Red run the same clearances on the aftermarket blocks as OE ? Looking at OE they appear to be cast - LM25 equivalent maybe.
The aftermarket ones are obviously CNC from better material. Anyone looked at the different expansion rates ?
Reason I ask is that I can't see any heat discolouration which I would expect if it was just lubrication.

Don't know Greg,
I got these blocks from an O.S. supplier.. 2nd set, I already have others installed in the Formula head with no problems..
Good point though, some measurements required as part of review of the last build.. only 1 jammed, rest were OK.
Love those racing motors.. ;)
As my old mate Mark M always says.. "show me a man with a motor and I'll show you a man with a problem.."

Ciao
