Hello Folks, finally got around to buying a rear hub from Andy Wagner, it has now been laced to a replica BORANI rim. On fitting to my 3CL though it seems is some kind of modification is needed for the brake caliper support bracket (refer to photos). Has anybody else been through this before? As I guess most people on this site are aware, Andy is running his business down so he's not as available so much as in the past. Still have emailed him, in the meantime though if anyone has some advice they can share, I would most appreciate it, cheers Russ

Does it not fit between the spacer and the swingarm? Is the hub correctly laced in?
Where did you get your Borrani replica rim?

Hello Paul, seems everything just about lines up, however, there appears to be a small collision between the brake disc around the mounting pins. Very awkward to measure, in any case may well be curable with removal of some material on the backside of the caliper bracket between the 2 black lines. Loathe to do that though if there is a simpler solution. Rims came from http://www.oldtimerreifen.com/

As most available "Laverda" spoke hubs are more-or-less copies of the original SFC750 items, the original caliper bracket for cast wheels will not fit if the original disc is to be re-used. In order to "re-use" the design and fit a P08 caliper, it must be placed under the swingarm, necessitating a completely new bracket and an opposite sided caliper. I used to mill these brackets manually, they were part of the conversion set offered by Moto Witt about 35 years ago.

Thanks, do not want to remove the swingarm from the bike though to weld on an additional bracket. Thought that the slot in the offered part fitted over the existing arrangement on the swingarm?

No. 35 years ago... up to you to use your imagination.
I remember making 3 roughed out prototypes until everything fitted properly and ended up plug'n'play for the cast wheel models, used 5 or 6 bikes to test fit (just because it fits one, doesn't mean it'll fit all others). CNC in its infancy and still prohibitively expensive.

Exactly. Difficult to get the stock disc to fit with those wheels AND retaining the stock anchor on the swingarm.
Quentin, getting the caliper lined up with the stock disc while it is above the swingarm isn't possible with the stock type bracket, no space, unless you cut a chunk from the swingarm. Wasn't an easy task machining the brackets back then with our rather rudimentary facilities, I would have gladly passed it on... but Herr Witt insisted on the finished product looking "factory", which it indeed did. The conversion eventually even attained TÜV approval!
The rearward position of the lower shock mounts of the SFC/Spaceframe frees up a lot of space required to locate the caliper upstairs. Road swingarms are a lot more cramped. A lot easier to start from scratch with a more suitable/easier to work with caliper and anchor point.
