Regulator question

Farken hell! This stuff just does my head in! With my original SF1 I used to replace the battery as required and ran the thing with virtually zero issues for 30+ years and 100s of 1000s of km. Only prob of note was a sheared wire inside the genny after travelling through inland Qld and NT floodwaters for days on end.

Then I switched to an ND alternator from a GPX/GPZ 900/1100 Kwaka. Connected one wire to the + the other to the - and never had an issue.

Just doesn't sound like a lot of fun owning a triple with the ever-present risk of being stranded in BFN!

i have sympathy for anyone reading this thread, works both ways.... yet only this week am dealing with a well known Ducati workshop and an iis fitted to pantah, "wont start due to weak spark..." me... put iis into test modes F ( fire all plugs ) and E ( test pickups ), plenty of spark energy, cannot blame the mechanic for not being familiar with the iis, yet the mech is confident to call out the ignition for "weak spark..." perhaps one of the reasons the experienced persons here retreat, nice to help out, though a lot like hard work dealing with misguided statements or information, sources and origins of that information unclear at best. Does not happen often, we do try to give all the information and all that goes with it.

Most notable many years ago, Oz Laverda dealer in house "mechanic" well known for form, "the ignition is making the engine idle high!"....me, eh? What? the iis ignition is making power???? Try adjusting the pilot screws, he was a dill and worst of all, totally insular for his lack of acumen or knowledge..... wasted my time in dealing with him, or buying dell jets he had drilled out ( same original sizing grade stamped ) thrown back into the new parts bin...... at times our legs serve us well, and i used them....j.

Sympathy! There are some real tossers out there making life difficult for themselves and others around them. Drilled jets with redundant numbers????!!!!!

Correct Quentin.....
Better stay clear of triples, your way better off with the SFQ.
Absolutely no chance of getting stuck in BFN with that puppy.....
 😘

Poor old Norm

John shhh dont let TC know you bought a Chinese battery tester will ya

Warning noted on TC, unsure whom that may be.... someone here ( no names follow my eyes....grin ) id'd the mechanic in question. The never to be forgotten event, was looking at purchasing a nice Corsa, me to owner "what is all that bluing on the three factory headers, lower section???" Oh, said mechanic took to the pristine factory headers with oxy-acet torch and bent the lower sections up for better ground clearance.....while on the bike ( burned lower frame paintwork ).... loved working with UK techs, oft heard comment... "You did what???" so poignant and apt in many an action of the ungifted.... j.

So you have been here.... though omitted the redundant swear words, so ever prevalent, 4 swear words, one verb or noun, 6 swear words, perhaps an adjective, then complete continuous stream of swear words.... "sorry dont understand what your saying....sic a grin...j.

I sometimes wonder how visitors to Australia get on if they're not so good at English. Before they can make sense of what's being said, they have to filter out all the swear words, which can sometimes be every third or fourth word. Aussies seem to like their profanities more than other cultures. Sometimes the profanity is an essential part of the sentence, but it can have many meanings.
According to this website, the word "shit" has at least 47 meanings.

A very clever book, still very relevant, the film is so historic now. Just so funny in a self-deprecating way.

Nice little dig there TC. Unfortunately it ain't gonna help me get the thing on the road. I couldn't be fukt going into the personal details on here. If you knew how close it was you'd have some sympathy.

Sorry Q, couldn't help myself after the nasturtiums were cast about regarding triples.
Hope all is good and the reno gets sorted so then the twin can get sorted. (y) (y)

Are you still in bed with a wog Quentin?
Yep, the sledgehammer flu Has been a real doozy - 5 weeks after covid. Mother in law on death's door in hospital with kidney failure ... oh yeah, the extension ... I did manage to fit the gearbox sprocket one day last week ...

No worries TC. Comment on triples was more a comment on the number and complexity of posts on charging systems.

Only equalled by the number of posts on electronic ignitions going tits up :p
