RIP Jim Henderson

Really sad news. A real character here on the forum. He will be stirring them up in the afterlife and putting out the bushfires of hell. Sincere condolences to his family.

Sad news. We had arranged to meet up when Paul LeC organised the meet in BC in 2022, but forest fire duties took priority.
A great shame.

Great character that will be terribly missed. Loved his sharpe witty responses. All the above posts testament to the respect he held. My sincere condolences to Jim's family and the wider family circle. RIP Jim.

Really shocked and sad to hear this ..... Took a couple of seconds after reading the opening post before I realised who it was ......... RIP Jim .........

I learnt from Jim's wife Mary a couple of days back that Jim was on his last legs.
Jim told me last summer that he'd been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we exchanged a bit after that about how he was doing. I hadn't had any news for a while so sent him a message at the beginning of the week and Mary answered with the sad news.
Jim and I would occasionally exchange about a plan, riding up to Vimy ridge and it's Canadian memorial 60 km from home.
I very much appreciated Jim's dry, biting sense of humour.
Sad news.
Paul

There appears to be a correlation between firefighting and pancreatic cancer: https://pancreaticcancercanada.ca/f...d2TTGeOwW9iBXavvtBTwFfw3oAw4M0W0aAh7fEALw_wcB

That's very concerning material in the article Joe. I wonder how much a heli pilot fighting would be exposed c/w an on the ground firefighter. The article is brief and doesn't specify what chemicals are associated with the cancer.
