That is certainly priceless. Not so easy however, if something fails - you're 35 + hours away from your base.


Travel there and back, practice and races in summary however will mean min. two weeks away from your rainforest shed - with all related consequences. What a commitment!

I'll keep my fingers crossed and wish you at least your joy will repeat itself, or, even better, increases!

in Aussie BEARs we can fit whatever we wish, only restriction is we cannot run carbon fiber rims as they banned them after a couple of racers had bad crashes when the rims collapsed on them
for example I could fit carbon brake rotors at $20,000 per rotor and they would pass BEARs rules

I do feel for you Andy being unable to race, huge commitment building these race bikes which would be the same with your bike and then being unable to use them the way one intended because of some mongrel bred Chinese virus, not good

3 1/2 days each way Brisbane to Darwin at an average of 1,000 klms/day
that is a lot of music to listen to

not too worried about the bikes, will do majority of the practice on the 2nd bike while the Mule rests for qualifying and the 4 x races

Mmm ... eels. I remember my (Scottish) mum cooking eels. They're a bit disgusting when raw but not bad when cooked. Depends how you cook them I suppose. I'm not so keen on muddies (mud crabs to the un-initiated) though. I think I prefer the eels.

Amazing work by the race team, especially against more modern bikes. Result is testimony to good preparation and talented riding.

Round 2 - Morgan Park
Where does one start? The race meeting weekend that kept on giving. So many joyful emotions.
Inside the Redax pit garage my goal was to stay out of their way.
Simple to do when Brett and Paul were already there. Those blokes are invaluable. Grazie mille.
One of the highlights for me was the 2nd race on Sunday. Ian, Herman and I had just got over the bridge to the inside of the track just before the race.
Mr Scorch Cycles and I were at Morgan Park's best vantage point just inside T3.

Due to an electrical fault in the previous race, #22 had to start at the back of the grid. Matt's start was perfect and we watched in awe with some anxiety as Matt fired The Mule through nearly half the bloody field before barging into and through T1 and T2. WTF!!
Mad Moto3 hyper-madness comes to Morgan Park!
The race was seven (7) laps and Matt continued to make good ground through the field. I pointed out to Herman who was Matt's main Formula 4 target, Fitzy. But there was still a hell of a lot of distance to make up after lap 1. Lots and lots! Matt kept gaining and at the start of the last lap it somehow looked like it just may be possible. Maybe? Maybe not?
Heading into T7 for the last time and the pesky Ducati, that had been on Fitzy's tail for most of the laps, made a last lunge attempt up the inside of Fitzy and pushes him wide. It stuffs up both their exits.

Great! Thank you Mr Duc. Now Matt's chances just got a whole lot better.

But still two bikes to overtake and only five turns to go before the finish line. The Ducati is quickly smoked off between T9 and T10 and now Matt has Fitzy in his sights heading up the rise through T11-T12. The right-left combination helps #22 remain in stealth mode.
After T12, the last turn, there is still a few metres to go but Matt and The Mule were on fire and exited/slid/powered out of T12 and blasted past Fitzy just before the finish line. The speed differential between them was great. The Mule howled past with that 180 wow factor!
