Save Me from Saftycrates

Truck driver mates here just got put through an "economical driving certificate" compulsory course. How to squeeze out those last few km/ltr from a V8 prime mover.

I didn?t know about the theory and rule tests. About 4 hours :o
Luckily I passed okay....

Did about 12 hours of B Double driving, and 2 hours B Double reversing. Interesting times, zig zagging all over the shop.

Oh, and I passed :D

Yes..... they are like herding Cats. One wrong move with the steering wheel and it?s over red rover. I managed to get 400mt in an almost straight line, 100mt required to pass. Had another shot and got 350mt before it went pear shaped, once the rear trailer goes too far off course there is almost no return.

With Single trailer and from 90 degrees to dock I planted it right into the dock in one movement both times (and a round of applause from the instructor)
But it took me two goes to get into the dock on the blind side (with a not worthy bow from the instructor) pretty chuffed ;)
 
The responsible ones, you see plenty being driven like dodgem cars around Sydney. My favourite was the imbecile who rolled on the bend coming off The Carl Expressway right in front of The Conservatorium Of Music. They found he had a counterfeit licence and was high on Ice at the time. It's usually the B Double Dump Trucks that rip around.

I did 3 years interstate when I moved to Qld. Loved it. But kids were young and the Mrs put a stop to it. I always thought I?d go back.

My job of 15 years is a younger mans domain and I set an age of 62 to get out. I can?t do what I do now at 70, so plan on driving through to retirement.

Turning 60 this year has changed my mindset and I will bring the date forward a couple of years.

Rob, I would like to do long haul, Brisbane to Darwin, or Perth.
But driving on rocks doesn?t float my boat. I don?t like rattles.
