Scenic Rim All Italian Motorcycle Rally

Was gonna post in Weather where you are, but seeing as you mentioned Lismore and Casino .... I flew up to the Gold Coast yesterday on a 3-day 'business trip' to collect my builder friend from Byron Bay and all his tools and the joinery work he's completed, and drive back to Melbourne to try and move our house extension beyond the pandemic snail's pace. Taxi from airport to Sth Tweed to collect the 2T Budget truck, drove down to Byron, loaded up and spent the night listening to torrential rain and thunder.

Long story short, Byron Bay underwater, Lismore once again broken the Levee, Pacific Hwy closed at Ballina - I'm stuck here and the general vibe is very subdued as this insane weather just keeps on coming.

Those bananas look perfect Tom! You guys were lucky to get home yesterday - no chance today.
 
Small potatoes but just to show how nuts this weather is. We have a 2-day ride coming up and my backyard is so soft and swamp-like it's going to take 2 of us to hopefully push my bike out engine off as riding it out would bury it to the engine cases and it will need a solid hosing to just get that mud off at probably 6am just to leave my place and riding back into the shed 2 days later has me worried about actually being able to do it. I have lived here for more than 30 years and it's never been this wet. A couple of weeks back my suburb topped the state for rain in that particular 24hrs at 130mm, absolutely nuts. At the start of this summer when I dodged that first hint of flooding out of the small country town I was at I said it would be a wet year, not just this wet. BTW we haven't had a north Queensland Cyclone YET. A couple in Western Oz but no Corral Sea one. It's not over.
 
Gees mine is way worse, I learned how deep the bedrock is after burying my German Shepherd, there is only 300mm of topsoil then shale so once it's saturated the water just builds up. There is 50mm of standing water over the Buffalo in low spots. It drys away quick, that is if it would only stop raining for a couple of days. I park my car there as well, it looks like a Croc slide with the mud.I haven't had to use the Diff lock to drive out, YET.
 
I am looking into a plastic mat you can drive on that still allows grass to grow through, seem they are available but this is the first time I have heard of this.
 
Apart from the weather, it looks like it was a fun and well attended event.
I sympathise regarding the weather, I rode a bike over to the Uk a few weeks back and it snowed. We have now had some unseasonably dry and warm weather for the last week or two. I am due to take the bike back on Monday after attending the ILOC AGM. Guess what? Yes, it’s predicted to bloody well snow again over the next few days! 😕

It's called geotextile. Lots of different types available. You should be able to find something that'll suit your purpose. Probably not cheap though for the good stuff.
 
Found a place in Sydney that does 2m X 20m mats of 14mm thickness suitable for truck use and allows grass to grow through for approx $800, way cheaper than a concrete slab. just wish I had done it when I had grass to protect. It will need at least 6 months and lots of top dressing to clear its Croc slide look now. Bunnings do 1m X 1m tile-like pieces that clip together but That would be almost as expensive and disconnect and separate and turn to crap. I just need to pay for a resident's parking sticker and when that gets full and it does do some dodgy parking till the grass comes back 6 months later and it's repaired.
 
Yep, it's virtually unpassable under power now. I wish I had your rocky bumpy loose surfaced steep potholed twisty driveway now. But because it gets saturated so fast it also drys really fast. A week of sun will allow the bike out at least, I hope for the coming couple of rides if we get it. Indian Summer needed NOW It's rare this happens, maybe 4 or 5 times in 30 years, but this is by far the worst
