Segoni 750

I have this nice project that I just started, a Segoni Laverda 750, one of 3 or 4 made.
Many of the right bits I already have, but the things I am missing the most are a seat and a rear hub.

My plan is to build it up in the same style as the one that raced the Bol d'Or in 1973, which had a seat that's a bit different from the one in the picture. I'm afraid I will end up having to make a seat myself..

The main search is for a Fontana 210mm rear drum for r/h chain. Any lead, anyone?

This one showed up at the Laverda Club Villingen-Schwenningen in '98 or '99, and a few other Laverda events.

The red silver one always appeared at the Maurizio Laverda SFC Rallies in the early 90ies, at that time owned by an elder local enthusiast. Then later it appeared for sale at the Reggio Emilia market. It resided in Germany ever since, in various hands.
Lovely bike with a troublesome centre stand.

Well none of the Segoni Laverdas were built for road use, so no stand was catered for.

The search for parts indeed is part of the fun!

I've always associated Fontanas with big front units - never even contemplated that they would have made a rear drum hub! Great project, Marnix. Did the ugly duckling alloy monocoque come before or after?

The spine frame Segoni 750 made its first appearance at the 1972 Imola 200 mile race (the one where Ducati wrote history) with Brettoni finishing 9th.
The monocoque made its only track appearance, again with Brettoni as rider at Imola 200 miler a year later but failed to qualify.
The Segoni team took both a spine and the monocoque to the 1973 Bol d?Or but the latter didn?t leave the trailer and acted as donor for the spineframe machine to finish 23rd in hands of Nico Cereghini and Giancarlo Daneu.

Hi Marnix, don't forget to grow your beard also!
Woooow, building up the 1973 Segoni Endurance racer was my dream project for many years, but I could not find a Segoni Laverda frame.

This Segoni bloke sure had some interesting ideas. I?m not sure whether the likes of the top engine mount hoops, are sound engineering, or just she?ll be right. Great find and project.

Have you tried GP Manx for the rear Fontana?

The plastic one it is! Love the copper one as well though, they get used more than those tools on the wall!
