Thanks for the advice of knee pad suppliers, however I am not sure if it is the correct fuel tank but it’s the one fitted when I bought it, I thought the pre 71 bikes had this style of tank? mine also has the smiths clocks so I thought it was correct for the period.???

Don’t let Ron’s comments confuse you. The very first SF model, introduced end 1970 had that tank, so your bike has the correct tank, with flip up fuel cap.

If your bike looks somewhat like this it probably is an early SF, tank and Smith clocks correct for the model.

GTL first appeared at Milan show 1973, production started 1975, could have 17 or 18 fin heads and 13 or 14 fin cylinders, the fuel tank was usually GTL specific, as was the seat, only odd balls or special builds after Sept 1976.

GTL are not build in the early 1970´ . Framenumber starts with 18xxx

Rainer
Not quite correct...

Mine has 17xxx, depicted in "la Diva". Sister bike with 17xxx +1 lives down the road. ;)
Regular production started around 18000.
