I love to hear about using the scientific method to see the actual effect. So many people rely on hopes and wishes. And that was not directed at you, Ron. To be accurate, even Cam's single experiment isn't statistically the be-all, but allowing for thousands of others not reporting this, it does say a lot.

Neutral and especially clutch connected start relays as well as side stand switches, have had not a few bikes ending up getting picked up by trailer.
Bouncing sidestands while up is a common thing. I once spent a while trying to start my Husky, not noticing a tiny wire connection off the clutch lever kill switch, the spade connection on that was 2mm wide. My first port of call for a non-starting old bike was failed kill switches. Especially those old click down off click up on ones. So easily confused.
