Yesterday was the first time I rode the bike since picking it up late last year. I enjoyed my first ride on a Harris. It handled very nicely. As expected there are a number of things to adjust and sort out. Ideally it needs a complete strip and respray but that will have to wait. It has been stood up for 20 years plus so just needs riding for the time being. And besides I have not ridden a 180 triple for a long time so want to re-aquaint myself with the experience. I will probably get some Harris decals for the tank and add some green stripes in somewhere. So I am a happy chap!

You’ve got yourself half a Crossbow calendar there! Bike looks cool as it is, I’m wondering if it’s as short wheelbase as the Harris Magnums? I rode a Z1000 Magnum and it wheelied off the throttle all the time. I can remember going to the Ally Pally road & race shows and bikes like yours look space age..anyway ,still looks cool.

Very very cool how is the engine Scrumps ??
And is that photo taken near Castle Coombe??

The engine is good Mo. Only got 7000 miles on it. Even Ged made positive comments on it. Not Castle Coombe although that would be a good place to get some pics. They where taken not far from Lacock Abbey (featured in a Harry Potter film) which is a few miles from my place.

Rob, It works fine and is quite smooth. A job for today is to make some adjustments to the travel on the lever as it wouldn't find top. It is definitely a nice ride in terms of the way it feels. It has Avon Road Runners fitted which feel good. I need to get a Motodd on the road and then I can compare directly!

The side stand is something that I definitely don't like. It does the job but RHS! Another poor feature is the location of the fuel taps, they are located under the tank and further inward than most conventional taps, you are almost feeling around blind to get at them.
 
Motoplast next for your collection Scrumpy, then you can do an article on the virtues and vices of all the special framed bikes. I had fun yesterday on my 3C's maiden voyage. The fuse blew on the motorway, cutting the engine whilst I was overtaking a load of trucks and there was no hard shoulder either. I hate it when that happens but not as much as pushing the bastard to the next exit, mind you it was only a third of a mile (wheeze). Had to get a taxi home to get some tools and some fuses. Turned out to be the horn wiring shorting out in the end.

And that is why I always use a special fuse just for the ignition circuitry so that nothing else can affect it. I had a bike once with just two fuses and a brake light wire had rubbed through onto the frame and used to randomly blow the fuse and stop the bike.

Hi pf1...sadly I know exactly how you felt both when the 3C cut out (scary) and the subsequent push to the next exit.
After a 400 mile trip home from a holiday in Cornwall I had a Koni rear shock damper snap at 90mph fully laden, two up (with the wife) on the motorway on my Jota. Slowing down was interesting to say the least..the wife got a lift home (thankfully only 3 miles) from a passing biker.. leaving me to push her all the way home. After a full day riding..the last 3 miles just about finished me off! 🥵
Needless to say, I've never trusted Koni's since...Glad you got the 3C sorted quickly 👍

I’m thinking the days when you’re out riding, not a cloud in the sky. Ya stop in at a country pub to have a few beers, sherbets or whatever, while watching the footy on the tele (cause The Swans are playing), and to perv on the barmaids great set of breasts and tight arse. Ya take ya helmet off, nod to the crusty old blokes leaning against the veranda rails drinking their 7oz beers, lean the bike over, all cool like 😎, to the left and ....... boom crash opera! The bike hits the ground, with its r/h side stand pointing to the sky. Rather similar to the barmaid inside laughing and pointing at you.🥵

I don’t condone drink driving over the legal limit, a drunk driver killed my little brother.... but, let’s not get into that.
