Something you DON'T see everyday in Canada !

Steve G. ;o)

I'm 76 with a basic CDN pension of $22,500 income per year - A low mileage 10 year old Subaru Forester XT WRX STi is all I can afford for the time I have remaining ;o)

I rode hundreds of motorcycles until I was 70 but kept my 70 750 SF0 Breganzie to the very end.

Ron

I trust that 2014 Subaru has more mileage left in her then me ;o)
I get to work on all brands, and, high output Subaru’s have a less than solid reliability record. I hope the base or head gaskets don’t give up, that’s the weak point of that engine. Very expensive repair!

Your keen Ron, a mate had one. It was about as Motocyly as a car can get. His came close to wheel standing if you stomped on it in 1st gear.

Vince:

Well I don't expect that Subaru will do a wheelie when shifting down from 3rd into second at 7800 rpm like my 70 SF0 Breganzie SF0 did at 60 mph - ONLY ONCE ;o)

7800 rpm in 3rd is a lot faster then 60 mph but I had my hand on the throttle.
Down hill with a tail wind granted.

Do they really have base gaskets? Long time since I have seen a car with one.
That’s the problem, they use silicone. Buddy of mine has a WRX, on his 3rd engine. How do I know? My other buddy is the local parts manager. They bring in at least one new complete long block a week.
Reliability??? Toyota or Honda.

I didn’t realise they were still built like Beetle motors. How last century!

MAX:

Subaru Engines are water cooled DOHC HEMI BOXERS (Like Porche and NOT an Air COOLED push rod BEETLE).

Since 2014 Subaru have corrected the head gasket issue and have replaced the glimmer timing belt with a double roller chain.

Granted they may exhibit a black exhaust at start up because the cylinders lay horizontal as oil will pool in the cylinders.

Modern 2014 to 2023 Subaru's (SAME CAR) are known to exceed 500,000 Khm's.

Have to say the TURBO Models expect at least one or 2 synthetic 5W30 Oil changes per year - Depending mileage and how hard you drive it. Hot Turbo Bearing tend to melt. New Turbo's are relatively cheap - Just catch the Turbo failure before it destroys the engine.

The other SUV I compared the Subaru Forester XT is to the Chrysler Renegade Trail Hawk which looks GOOD but more expensive but not necessarily better. One thing you do not want to deal with is GM, Chrysler,or Ford dealerships in Canada - They are ROBBERS.

Ron ;o)

PS:

Other then general maintenance, which you have to do with any vehicle like: suspension bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, tires, exhaust, oil changes, Coil packs, plugs, cleaning the MAS and cleaning and replacing the Throttle gasket , Air filter and replacing sensors... etc. I believe I made a GOOD Choice - Total Cost - Yet to be determined - Cross Fingers.

Sounds like a Breganzie to me !

A Japanese Subaru Forester XT WRX STi is NOT something you see every day in Canada and neither was my 1970 Breganzie Laverda 750 SF0 ;o)

Maybe you should have bought a Subaru Brumby. Chicks love a bloke in a ute. 😉

I have a 2001 JEEP TJ SPORT for that. I tell my Girl friends to wear "Hip Waiters"; because, I never know if I'll need a "Wench" to pull my cable ;o)

UPDATE:

Weak attempt for Australia to invade Canada with invasive Roo's. In spite the USA have MEGA GUNS, Canada have Super Pigs - HIC-ROLF!

Well, they sound similar, especially after a few beers
You pay for the next round Chirsk - Chrysler had "Super Bees" in America ;o)

From the North Pole to the Southern tip of the American Continent we are all Americans, only USA Citizens think they are Americans !

Especially after Trump told them we have real beer up here.
Both countries have great beer, and terrible beer. I was in the states yesterday, had a fantastic beer, but I will say that the USA has suffered worse inflation wise, it’s no longer a bargain down there.
