I didn't mean to start a Covid thread......let's just hope we get this thing under control  quickly so we can get back to normal lives including riding our Laverdas in any country with any other Laverdaisti.

Woops forgot we don't talk about covid on the forum.

Excellent.
Reminds me of when Corinne and I saw a Harley group with it's Lider Maximo complete with ape hangers arrive at Francorchamps a couple of years back. Lider Maximo fell over in the parking lot.

A few facts about the COVID situation in Canada, all of this is available on line from the Government of Canada web site that tracks and updates statistics daily across Canada,

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection.html#a1

The population of Canada (last census) 37.59 million, the population of the USA 328.2 million, roughly 10 times the population of Canada,

Canada has completed 5.5 million tests, reported 121,770 positive cases and recorded 9126 deaths. If we multiply the Canadian numbers by ten to match the USA that would equate to 55 million tests, 1,2 million reported cases and 91,260 deaths.

Today the USA has completed 77 million tests, recorded 6 million reported cases, and nearing 185,000 deaths.

Given the similarity on standard of living, culture, quality of health care etc, the numbers should be the same but the USA is experiencing twice the death rate.

Most major Canadian metropolitan centers have mandatory indoor mask requirements and social distancing has been encouraged since March.

The biggest difference in Canada is that COVID is not a political issue, no politician has downplayed it or called it a hoax and the scientists do the daily briefings not the politicians. No one identifies being liberal or conservative by wearing or not wearing a mask. This is simply a public health issue and most people recognize the importance of controlling the spread to keep the economy open.

Golly, you Canadians really are smarter & have your collective shit together better than us Americans!!!:

Seriously, am I supposed to think that Canada is better because 90k less people have died as though it's an admirable quality? It's this kind of xenophobic B.S. that causes so many problems.

I'll say it a third time in this thread: Stupidity is the original global pandemic!!!

I think you misread the post,

Canada has reported just over 9000 deaths, USA about 185,000, adjusted on a per capita basis Canada has suffered about half the deaths as our neighbours to the south. I did not say Canada was better than the USA (whatever that is supposed to mean? better at what?) just that it has had less than half the deaths per capita and a much lower rate of infection per capita, that is simply a fact, nothing xenophobic about it.
you can draw whatever conclusions you like.

Yes, I did mis-read it, thank you for clarifying. Please clarify another point-why cite the stats & then follow up w/ a false comparison that Canadians don't make it a political issue, etc when clearly you have idiots in your country as well judging by various Canadian media links I posted? That's where your point becomes skewed in my opinion.

Canada has its fair share of idiots, no debate there and the media of course reports on the few, and they are a small minority, who refuse to accept the reality of the pandemic or just think it will miraculously just go away. The point about denial and downplaying the issue is that in the USA Trump has downplayed the pandemic since the get go and has touted bogus cures and remedies while shutting out the real scientific opinion that matters for a twisted political calculus.
