Speedometer drive

Hello from Scotland. I,m looking for a speedo drive complete for my early 1971SF.Its the model of
which theres a pic on page 64 of the Raymond Ainscoe book. Hope someone can help.

As not everybody has the book, should be the one with Smiths clocks,
old tank with kneepads, Laverda brakes.

Aye,thats the one. The bits I,m after are the bits fitted in the brake plate only. The gear
fitted on the hub is there and ok.

There were 2 different drive gear ratios fitted for Smiths speedos. Can you tell us the SSM number from the bottom of your speedo face or how many teeth the hub gear has?

SF should have 12/15 and 600 on the speedo.
Early GTs 11/22 and 1000 and the speedo doesn't go up to
240km/h , I think 190km/h.

55M 5001/15 600
Speedo needle 20-240 kmh
I,ll count the teeth on the hub tomorrow. Sounds like I
may have the wrong speedometer.?
The eng/chassis numbers are 4988

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps you have the right speedometer but the wrong bike.

read rsm 3005/11. Mine says rsm 3003/11 ??....now I,m confused . Counted the
teeth on hub...25.

Smith Speedo appears to be correct for the bike, as Ernesto stated the hub gear should have 15 teeth.
Worm drive 12 teeth.

The Green book is excellent but knowledge on the bikes has moved on and there were a few mistakes from the start.
Remember that it was written by Englishmen and that the 750 Laverda, particularly the early ones were very rare beasts in the UK.

15 tooth hub gear??? You sure? That's big teeth to get 15 onto that OD.
