Sorry Björne.
That isn't the right one for the Smiths 600 speedo.
It's for the Smiths 1000 speedo (GT) und would require a 22 ring.
Jockula needs a 15-ring and a 12-worm drive.
The 25-ring on his hub is for the ND-speedo and requires a 9-worm drive.

Thanks Ernesto, given that the 25 ring on the hub is for ND, I assume the smiths clocks
would go crazy. This site is one hellava learning curve!
Now it seems I finally need 15/12 set up
Many thanks

If I got a 9-worm drive,would that combo of 9/25 suit a smiths speedo ?
or is it better to hang in there for 15/12.

I see they sell a 15 ring 12-worm drive at laverda paradies. Looks like
I may have to go there. 260+ euro but hey ho there you go. I assume
a good heat gun would loosen up the 25T ring on the hub.?

ILOC tool loan scheme have a puller, but it doesn't work on disc braked wire wheels, it has been used on disc braked cast wheels, not sure if it works on drum braked wheels, (as yours) they are not usually hard to get off, but the numbers in your Smiths speedo tell you what pair of crown wheel and pinion you need, you do have to fit the correct types, there is no mixing and matching its either Smiths A) or B) or ND if SF1 onwards.
Laverda Paradies is known to be the dearest shop on the planet, but very often he has the parts that no one else has, try Wolfgang Hearter Canada, or OCT Germany, or even Gijs Van Dyk Holland

72 SF also has ND clocks Clem.
Italy can be a good place for Laverda spares.

err yes you are right Paul as you dont like to call it .....SF0
I always find Italy difficult or impossible to deal with unless you are there in person and then it is pure bliss. Ricardo Or did tell me that this HAS TO change for him to survive, so add Ricardo Oro, Breganze, 3C Moto, not far outside Breganze and also Guisseppi Andrighetto ditto, the last two within 4 klicks of the Cafe Centrale,

Hello.
I'm taking advantage of this thread to also make my request.
I'm looking for an 11-tooth gear for the Smith Speedo, like the one in the photo. I already have the 22-tooth ring.

I also have a question.
I have a 21-tooth ring, marked Veglia 29500-201.014 0.
Does anyone know which bike this fits? (Laverda or another?)

Thanks!

I am going to make a bit of a guess here, but there is some foundation, it looks like a Laverda ring gear and it is stamped Veglia. The SFC1000 originally had Smiths clocks which were in stock items at Breganze for 25 or 30 years and were used on the first SFC1000's, this caused a factory recal (due to the grease internally going hard as rock) and a swap for the Veglia instruments that we are more familliar with on this model, it meant changing the clocks (of course) and the drive gear and pinion at the front wheel spindle, this job was entrusted to dealers around the planet, a lot in the UK, the clocks were simple enough to change (many forgot that there would now be an ignition earthing problem) but the drive gears a little bit more time consuming, so was very often NOT DONE, this left the SFC1000 with a vastly overeading speedo (around 25MPH too fast) and similar for the tacho.

Yes the SFC 1000 is fast at the speedo, I often go 170 k on country roads, which is realy 140 and a bit too fast
