Their website still seemed to exist a couple of years ago, I remember riding along Silverwater Road looking for where I remembered them, just not there! It justifies keeping boxes of old parts in the shed, I suppose.Metropolitan Spares at Silverwater was my go-to Wreaker, they were massive, but about 5 or 6 years back they started discarding older stock, it was just sitting there taking up space. Over the years I think they bought out competitors, or the others just disappeared slowly. Their business model was buying wrecked bikes from Insurance Auctions and selling the bits, not even sure those Auctions exist anymore. They were an institution in Sydney and I used them for decades. The pandemic closed them down. There may be 1 or 2 small online places left in Sydney, just another sign of the general decline of Motorcycling. Nobody fixes anything so why buy old parts?
You must look for possums and drop bears at night. Simply, the whole unit is upside down, with the wiring loom hole facing upwards a tad.Just don't use Autosol to attempt to get it shiny again. They are silvered like a mirror and that's extremely soft. Guess how I know. BTW my headlight must be upside down as I distinctly remember unclicking it from the top with a big screwdriver and refiting it first at the bottom and pushing it closed from the bottom first and finally clicking it closed at the top. Unlikely as the wiring assess holes are underneath. Does anyone else have a headlight like that? Another Laverda mystery.
