Stock wheel & speedo drive

Sorry I missed this before: Don't forget that Carlos is using 500 wheels on his Jota, we sussed this out when he first fitted them.
That does explain a lot of the problems. This wheel is considerably narrower than the triple wheel.

Ah ok found the thread here

I think I was so happy to have the other wheels going that I forgot.

I was thinking that it looked narrower with the rubber on BUT the wheels went on with the same spacers perfectly so unless I amazingly happened to get 2 sets of 500 wheels then the only difference seems like the width of the rims.

The hubs of both front and rear 500 wheels are narrower than the triples', front axle is 17mm instead of 20. Front rim size is 2.15 for both, 500 has 2.15 rear, triple has 2.50. So, definitely not plug'n'play.

Fitted a 'thick web' front wheel to my RGS after the original one broke a spoke and no thin web wheels were available; The hub width, bearing to bearing, was the same but the distance between the disc mounting surfaces was narrower, requiring the spacers. Apart from that there wasn't any dimensional difference between them.

Yes, (nearly) all triple wheels interchange. Some need the disc spacers, others don't. SFC1000 is the exception, front hub is narrower to afford disc/stanchion clearance.

Ah so here we go again, sorry. I was having a problem with the steering head bearings which for some reason unknown to me tightened up. So complete front-end tear-down was the way to go and in doing so I came across or rather did not come to find the washer on Speedo Drive housing.
I have owned the bike for 41+ years and to be honest I never ever went looking for said washer, part # 33 115 781, yeah that one. I can see it is obviously missing, see the photo, but for the life of me, I do not know where or when it went missing. There is a difference in height of 2mm between housing and sleeve. As I stated previously in another post I have had a problem with fork seals leaking having to change them 3 times in the last 10,000 miles, fortunately, the last set I put in is not leaking, yet.
Could this missing washer be the culprit of the fork seal leaks? the bike is a 78 Marzo forked 1000.
Keep in mind the front end is very easy to assemble with no hammering of the axle required everything lines up easily and true, and after following Clem's advice to remove the fork brace it has been a super smooth nice front end. Does anyone have the said washer who may be willing to send one to me?

There have been comments about THAT washer being attached or built into the Speedo housing permanently in the past. Best to check that info though. The controversial part of my story happened when I reversed the brakes to the rear of the legs and it involved the step in the axial, when I tightened my axle I had the left disc super close to the fork leg, just rubbing it. Obviously, something was very wrong. You might expect symmetry left or right but in my case Cer fork that wasn't so. So I added a 2mm washer on the left side to clear the disc from the fork leg. Clem's assembly method might negate that but it hasn't added any pinching I could detect on my GLASS arse, apparently, I tend to feel bumps others never notice. That was maybe 20 years back, and I don't have fork leaks or much stiction even with my fork brace, the latter needs very careful setup to avoid it pinching the fork action. BTW I really like those Green SBK super expensive fork seals, much improved in all areas.
