I'd offer even less than 5 grand, the bike is slapped together with loads of incorrect parts.

The grimy throttle grip alone makes me shudder...

Just because the seller threw a bottle of paint polish over it, doesn't increase its value.

Works all the time.
A pretty clean looking one went for £ 5000 at auction in the UK 10 days back. Not quite the same.
Beware, the price of scrap metal is climbing. We're not thinking in terms of investment or speculation now but of recycling.

But it's also not the correct seat for a '74-'75 model either. Bodged together from left-overs?

I'd be hard put paying 14+ grand for a pristine example, those often enough require another 5 to put right. A customer recently brought his newly aquired €25000 triple in the workshop, it needed another cool 4000 to make it roadworthy and rideable, engine internals are still a complete unknown. Paintwork (orange :rolleyes: ) was top notch though.

There's a sucker waking up every day, just got to get him to walk through your door...

€ 25 000 triple! Bloody hell.
In view of the likely mileage that thing will cover, it probably doesn't need the engine looking into.

Lucky I specialised in anaesthetics and not psychiatry. I would have gone mad.

I would add that as a well off westerner, I occasionally feel guilty spending such a lot of money on what are play things, even though they are very dear to me and more a way of life than a hobby.
But to throw away such large amounts of money without an inkling of knowledge or common sense is just obscene.
And being the complete idiot I am, if some utter twit to stay polite offered me that sort of money for one of my motorcycles, SFC excepted, I'd refuse point blank.

The dealers are retiring Paul. People restore bikes as a hobby and they want the correct parts, you can't get original Honda CB160 exhaust systems for love nor money but one set turned up the other week on ebay for £1000 and was sold within days. Try pricing up an original tyre pump for an early 1960's Honda for instance. Sure you can use the bike without these things but people want originality.

Quite.
People restore bikes and don't ride them so no market for dealers.
There'll always be a market for stamp collectors.
