Davo is better qualified to give advice than I am, but I believe anything more than 1000mg (two tablets) is considered an overdose. A dose sufficient for liver failure is probably a lot higher than that, but you don't want to find out from personal experience.

8 x 500mg a day max is OK. They are sold in suicide packs of 20. Not the ideal way to go as you would understand if you have ever seen anyone die slowly of liver failure.

I presume that's spread over the day, like 2 every 6 hours. I suspect taking the day's quota of 8 in one go (and expecting the analgesic effect to last 24 hours) might be a bit risky, not to mention stupid. 

My GP once told me (off the record and in a social context) how many Panadiene Forte tablets in one hit would be sufficient if one wanted to commit suicide or murder. She didn't explain whether the lethal dose in that case would be paracetamol or codeine. Evidently she was confident that I'm not a suicide risk or a potential murderer, although it did cross my mind to administer a dose to my mum when was in the terminal stages of Alzheimer's disease.
